Equinox Louvered Roof Cost: 2026 Dealer Prices, Specs and Warranty

Equinox louvered roof cost from named dealers ($115 to $200/sq ft), 10x10 to 20x20 math, span and snow ratings, warranty fine print, and brand comparison.

Equinox Louvered Roof Cost: 2026 Dealer Prices, Specs and Warranty

By The Roofing Brief Team | Last reviewed: October 2026

The Equinox louvered roof cost is set by local dealers, not the manufacturer, and the dealer prices published by name run from about $115 per square foot for materials only to $160 to $200 per square foot installed. At those rates a 12 x 16 ft system lands near $30,700 to $38,400 installed before permits and electrical work, by our arithmetic. Size, bay count, snow and wind loads, and add-ons move the number most.

The pages ranking for this search quote one price and stop. This guide adds what they leave out: the per-square-foot math for four common sizes, the span limits in Equinox’s own engineering sheet, what the written warranty actually excludes, the permit rules in three named cities, and a side-by-side with StruXure, Azenco R-BLADE, and Renson built from each brand’s own pages.

Key numbers at a glance

These are the figures most buyers need before calling an Equinox dealer. Each row names its source. Dealer prices are regional and dated, so treat them as planning ranges, not quotes.

How much does an Equinox louvered roof cost?

An Equinox louvered roof typically costs $160 to $200 per square foot installed, based on the installed prices that named dealers publish. Materials-only offers start near $115 per square foot. Equinox itself does not post prices; every system is quoted by an authorized dealer after measuring, so the figures below are published dealer numbers, each labeled with its region and date.

Dealer (location) What the price covers Published price Per sq ft Page date
Patio Warehouse (Orange, CA) Installed, Orange County $160 to $200 per sq ft $160 to $200 Updated September 2026
Gemini Outdoors (Indiana, ZIP 46737 radius) 12 x 12 kit plus delivery and install; permit, engineering, above-grade installs and taxes excluded $24,480 About $170 Updated December 2022
Gemini Outdoors, sliding scale Materials only by system size $130 (under 500 sq ft), $120 (500 to 1,000), $110 (over 1,000), plus $30 to $40 install $140 to $170 installed Updated December 2022
Factory Direct Patio Covers (Aliso Viejo, CA) 10 x 20 materials only, with solar cell, remote, battery, 2 x 8 beams, gutters, posts $22,990 (+$2,000 basic install) About $115 materials; about $125 with basic install Updated March 2024
Patio Covered Installed, general estimate Around $180 per sq ft About $180 Updated April 2023

Two cautions apply. First, check the arithmetic on any total: at $160 to $200 per sq ft, a 16 x 16 ft system (256 sq ft) works out to $40,960 to $51,200, so a total far below that implies a much lower rate or a smaller scope. Ask each dealer to put the per-square-foot rate and the total on the same written quote. Second, the lowest figure here is a materials-only package; labor, permits, footings and electrical sit on top.

Equinox’s own financing page lists loans from $5,000 to $125,000 on approved credit, with rates “as low as 6.99%.” For fixed-roof alternatives at a lower price point, compare the cost to add a roof over a deck.

Equinox louvered roof cost by size: 10×10, 12×16, 16×20 and 20×20

Multiply the square footage by the dealer rate: a 10 x 10 ft Equinox roof comes to about $16,000 to $20,000 installed at $160 to $200 per sq ft, and a 20 x 20 ft roof about $64,000 to $80,000. These are Roofing Brief estimates using the published rates above, not quotes. Larger roofs also need a second bay, which adds a beam, posts and often a second motor.

Size Sq ft Likely layout (Roofing Brief estimate) Materials only at about $115/sq ft Gemini formula ($130 + $30 to $40 install) Installed at $160 to $200/sq ft
10 x 10 ft 100 1 bay, 10 ft louvers, about 14 louvers $11,495 $16,000 to $17,000 $16,000 to $20,000
12 x 16 ft 192 1 bay, 12 ft louvers across the 12 ft side, about 23 louvers $22,070 $30,720 to $32,640 $30,720 to $38,400
16 x 20 ft 320 2 bays of 10 ft louvers across the 20 ft side, about 23 louvers each $36,784 $51,200 to $54,400 $51,200 to $64,000
20 x 20 ft 400 2 bays of 10 ft louvers, about 29 louvers each $45,980 $64,000 to $68,000 $64,000 to $80,000

Method: the materials column uses the Factory Direct Patio Covers 10 x 20 offer ($22,990 divided by 200 sq ft equals $114.95). Louver counts come from Chart 1 (Optimum Frame Size) and Chart 2 (Louver Length vs Inside Frame Dimension) in the Equinox Standard Installation Guide (EQU-024, 2023), assuming standard 2 x 8 in. beams. Equinox louvers come in stated lengths of 8, 10, 12 and 14 ft, so no single bay can span 16 or 20 ft. The dealer’s engineering sets the final layout.

What an Equinox quote includes, and what costs extra

A typical Equinox quote covers the aluminum frame, louvers, integrated gutters, motor and remote. Permits, engineering, footings, electrical runs, downspouts and most accessories are often extra. Gemini Outdoors, for example, excludes the building permit, engineering documents, above-grade installs and taxes from its posted price.

  • Permit: Patio Warehouse puts Orange County permit fees at $200 to $500. Fees vary by city and project value.
  • Footings or slab anchors: The Equinox installation guide calls for footings “according to engineering plans,” or 3/8 in. or 1/2 in. Hilti Kwik Bolt TZ anchors with 3 in. embedment into an existing slab.
  • Power: Equinox says the motor runs from a transformer plugged into an ordinary 110 V outlet. A new outdoor circuit or outlet is extra if none is close.
  • Water management: The gutter is built into the frame, but Equinox’s training deck notes it still needs a drain point: a downspout, a post, a scupper or a rain chain. Our guide to gazebo gutters covers running downspouts down posts and using rain chains.
  • Accessories: Patio Warehouse prices LED lighting, sensors and smart-home integration at $500 to $2,000 on top of the base system.

How the Equinox louvered roof works

The Equinox louvered roof is a frame of extruded aluminum beams and posts holding double-walled aluminum louvers that rotate together on pivot strips. A motor turns the louvers through up to 150 degrees. Closed louvers are pitched so rain runs into a gutter built into the beams, and optional sensors can close the roof when rain starts.

Equinox offers two motor packages, and the choice affects cost and features.

Feature Gear motor Linear smart motor (Somfy RTS)
Control Single or multi-channel controller, handheld remote or toggle wall switch Multiple remotes or wall switches, smart-device control
Power Transformer or solar Transformer only; cannot run on solar power
Rain and wind sensors Not listed Yes; needs an external antenna, with sensors within 35 ft of it
Cold-weather setting Not listed Below 37 degrees F, louvers open to a preset position to keep them from freezing shut
Source Equinox dealer training presentation (November 2023); Equinox Standard Installation Guide EQU-024, Appendices D and E

The materials-only package from Factory Direct Patio Covers lists a solar cell, regulator and battery, which matches the gear motor option. If you want automatic rain closing, ask the dealer to confirm the quote uses the Somfy linear motor and includes the sensor and antenna.

Equinox sizes, spans, and components

Equinox builds each roof to order from stock parts: louvers in stated lengths of 8, 10, 12 and 14 ft, beams in 16, 20 and 24 ft lengths, and 4 x 4 in. or 7 x 7 in. posts. Bigger roofs join multiple bays. The frame is pitched 1 to 1 3/4 in. so water reaches the gutters.

Wind and snow ratings from Equinox’s engineering sheet

Equinox’s louver specification sheet (EQU-012, January 2019) lists louver spans by ground snow load and design wind speed in Exposure B. The 14 ft maximum holds at 10 to 20 psf ground snow up to 150 mph. Spans shrink as loads rise, down to 10 ft 4 in. at 43 psf and 170 mph. The same sheet lists TAS 202 test results: +30/-17.5 psf at a 14 ft span and +30/-85 psf at 8 ft.

Source: Equinox Extruded Louver Technical Specifications, EQU-012 (01-2019), “Louver Spans for Commercial and Patio Structures,” Exposure B. These are louver spans only; posts, beams, footings and ledger attachment come from project engineering, and Equinox takes site-specific engineering requests through its website. In practice, a 14 ft stated louver (about 13 ft 4 in. actual) fits the table only where ground snow is 20 psf or less, or 25 psf at 110 mph, so heavy-snow and high-wind sites usually need shorter louvers and more bays, which raises cost.

Florida and Miami-Dade. Equinox markets the system as Miami-Dade certified. The most recent Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance we located, NOA No. 21-1117.06 for the “Equinox Aluminum Louvered Canopy,” was issued to OmniMax International, lists no missile impact rating, and carries a printed expiration date of September 17, 2025. Florida buyers may want to ask the dealer for a current NOA or Florida product approval number before permitting.

Equinox options: lighting, screens, heaters, sensors

Equinox sells lighting through a Lumien partnership and supports fans, heaters, speakers, misters and weather sensors. Motorized screens come from third parties: Equinox’s own screens page says it “does not directly offer these screens” but the roofs are compatible with them. Accessories carry their own makers’ warranties, not Equinox’s.

  • Lighting: Lumien Nano and Micro recessed lights, spotlights and post lights in antique bronze or matte black; Equinox’s training deck lists a lifetime fixture warranty and 10-year warranty on the light element.
  • Weather sensors: Somfy rain and wind sensors, and the Bond Breeze Pro sensor, which Equinox says reads wind, sun and rain.
  • Heat and air: gas or electric heaters, ceiling fans, misters.
  • Screens: insect, shade, clear weather and hurricane screens from outside suppliers, mounted to the frame.

What the Equinox warranty covers, and what it excludes

Equinox’s written warranty covers louvers, beams, gutters and posts for 20 years against defects, and the finish against chipping, peeling, flaking or blistering for 20 years. Motors and electronics get 3 years, parts only, and batteries 1 year. After year one, the homeowner pays labor and shipping on repairs.

Term What the warranty card says
Structure and finish 20 years from installation
Power components (motor, solar panel, link bar, controls) 3 years, parts replacement only
Batteries 1 year
Labor after year 1 Homeowner pays labor and product shipping
Registration Required within 30 days of installation or the warranty is not enforceable
Transfer Original retail purchaser only; not transferable
Weather tightness “This warranty does not cover the louvers being weather tight”
Coastal and chemical exposure Excludes corrosive atmosphere contaminated with chemical fumes or salt, and black streaking
Where it applies Continental United States and Canada

Source: Equinox Louvered Roof Manufacturer’s Warranty, EQUWY024 (04/2023), linked from equinoxroof.com. That card names OmniMax International, Inc. d/b/a Amerimax Home Products as warrantor. Equinox changed owners in 2024 (see below), so ask the dealer who issues the warranty on a system bought today.

Note the weather tightness line. Equinox marketing calls the closed louvers “watertight,” but the warranty does not promise it. Renson’s FAQ makes a similar point about its own roofs: they are water-repellent, and condensation can form on the underside of the blades.

Who makes the Equinox louvered roof?

Equinox is a brand of Four Seasons Outdoor Living Group, according to equinoxroof.com. Four Seasons Building Products Group, based in Holbrook, New York, acquired Equinox and its sister brand Alumawood from OmniMax International in a deal that closed March 8, 2024, as reported by Building Products Digest. Before that, OmniMax made Equinox and held its Miami-Dade approval.

Do you need a permit for an Equinox louvered roof?

In most U.S. cities, yes. A louvered roof is treated as a patio cover, and attached patio covers generally need a building permit with plans. The International Residential Code, 2021 edition, Appendix AH, Section AH105.1 requires patio covers to carry “all dead loads plus a minimum vertical live load of 10 pounds per square foot,” with snow loads used where higher, and to resist the wind loads in Section R301.2.1.

  • Milpitas, California: “A building permit is required for any patio cover or sunroom addition attached to the main structure, and for a detached patio cover or sunroom addition exceeding 120 sq ft” (City of Milpitas, Patio Cover and Sunroom Additions, rev. 01/01/2026).
  • Phoenix, Arizona: Construction drawings are required, and “if framing methods are beyond conventional framing, a structural analysis/evaluation may be required by a registrant” (City of Phoenix, Residential Patio Covers Guideline, TRT/DOC/00620, rev. 08/26).
  • Prosper, Texas: “If the structure is metal or some other material outside of the scope of the IRC, a plan set sealed by a design professional licensed by the State of Texas” is required, and plans over 400 sq ft need a registered design professional’s seal (Town of Prosper, Attached Arbor/Pergola/Patio Cover Permit Submittal, rev. 04/2025).

In Florida, local checklists may also ask for product approval documents. The City of Homestead’s aluminum cover checklist (revised July 2024) routes these permits through a structural engineer review. HOA approval is separate from the permit in all of these cities.

Equinox vs StruXure vs Azenco R-BLADE vs Renson

All four brands sell motorized aluminum louvered roofs with built-in gutters through dealers, and none publishes retail prices. They differ most on warranty length, transferability, published wind and snow ratings, and maximum single-bay size. The table uses each brand’s own published documents.

Which louvered roof should you pick?

Pick by your site’s loads, how long you plan to own the house, and whether you need automatic rain closing. The table maps common situations to the brand feature that fits, based on the published specifications above. Get at least two dealer quotes on the same size and options.

Your situation What to prioritize Fits on paper
Small patio, mild climate, tight budget One bay, few add-ons, no sensors Any brand’s single-bay system; with Equinox, the gear-motor package with remote control
Likely to sell within 10 years Transferable warranty StruXure (transfer allowed with written acknowledgment)
South Florida or hurricane coast Current Miami-Dade NOA or Florida approval Azenco R-BLADE (NOA through 2030); ask Equinox for a current approval
Heavy snow region Published snow span tables and shorter bays Equinox span table or Azenco’s 100 lb rating; confirm with engineering
Want rain to close the roof automatically Hard-wired motor plus rain sensor Any of the four; with Equinox, specify the Somfy linear motor
Large single zone without middle posts Largest single-bay size Azenco R-BLADE (22 ft 10 in. x 16 ft) or Renson (about 20 ft wide)

How to get an accurate Equinox louvered roof quote

An accurate Equinox quote starts with your local design snow load and wind speed, because those set louver length and bay count. Then the dealer measures, picks motor and options, and prices permits and site work. Follow these steps so quotes from different dealers line up.

  1. Find your design wind speed, exposure category and ground snow load from your building department before you call.
  2. Use the Find a Dealer page on equinoxroof.com to get at least two authorized dealers, plus one quote from another brand.
  3. Ask each dealer for the louver length, number of bays, number of motors and post size, so the layouts match.
  4. Specify the motor: gear motor (solar possible) or Somfy linear motor (needed for rain and wind sensors).
  5. Get permit, engineering, footings, electrical and downspouts priced as separate lines, or written as excluded.
  6. Ask who issues the warranty today and get the current warranty document; register within 30 days of installation.
  7. In Florida, ask for the product approval or NOA number that will go on the permit.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an Equinox louvered roof cost?

Named Equinox dealers publish installed prices of about $160 to $200 per square foot, such as Patio Warehouse in Orange County, California. Gemini Outdoors in Indiana lists a 12 x 12 ft system at $24,480 installed, about $170 per square foot, excluding permit and engineering. A materials-only 10 x 20 ft package from a California dealer was $22,990, about $115 per square foot.

How much does a louvered roof cost?

Dealer-installed motorized louvered roofs from brands such as Equinox commonly price at $160 to $200 per square foot, based on published dealer figures. StruXure, Azenco and Renson do not publish prices and quote each custom system through dealers. Size, bay count, local snow and wind loads, motors, sensors and permits drive the final total, so compare quotes on identical layouts.

What are the downsides of a louvered pergola?

A louvered pergola costs far more than a fixed patio cover, and its motor and electronics carry short warranties: Equinox covers them for 3 years, parts only. Closed louvers shed rain but are not sealed; Equinox’s warranty excludes weather tightness. The integrated gutters need a drain point and cleaning, and heavy snow areas need shorter spans and more posts.

What is the typical cost of a retractable louvre roof?

Makers of retractable and rotating louvre roofs, including Renson, say pricing depends on dimensions, accessories and roof type and is quoted through dealers. For rotating louver systems, published Equinox dealer prices run about $160 to $200 per square foot installed. Expect retractable designs that slide fully open to be priced on custom quotes rather than published rates.

Do you need a permit for an Equinox louvered roof?

Usually, yes. Most cities treat a louvered roof as a patio cover. Milpitas, California requires a permit for any attached patio cover and detached covers over 120 sq ft. Phoenix requires construction drawings and may require structural analysis for non-conventional framing. Prosper, Texas requires plans sealed by a Texas design professional for metal structures.

Is an Equinox louvered roof waterproof?

Closed Equinox louvers interlock and pitch water into the built-in gutter, and Equinox markets them as watertight. The written warranty, however, states it “does not cover the louvers being weather tight.” In practice, expect a closed roof to shed rain well, but plan for some drips, condensation and wind-driven rain, and choose outdoor-rated furniture and flooring.

Who makes Equinox louvered roofs?

Equinox is a brand of Four Seasons Outdoor Living Group, according to the Equinox website. Four Seasons Building Products Group acquired Equinox and Alumawood from OmniMax International in March 2024. The warranty card still posted on equinoxroof.com (dated April 2023) names OmniMax International d/b/a Amerimax Home Products as the warrantor, so confirm the current warrantor with your dealer.
