What counts as a gable decoration?
A gable decoration is any applied trim, vent, siding change, or paint treatment on the triangular gable face and along its sloped edges. Most fall into six groups: brackets and corbels, pediments and decorative trusses, louvers and vents, peak finials, bargeboard (rake trim), and siding or color changes. How to add a decorative gable accent
Adding a gable accent follows the same sequence whether it is a single bracket or a full truss. Work from a stable platform, fasten into framing or sheathing (not just siding), and seal every penetration. Contractors working 6 ft or more above a lower level need fall protection under OSHA 29 CFR 1926.501, a useful benchmark for when a second-story peak calls for a lift or a hired crew.
