MetalMax Review (2026): Panels, Warranty, Locations, Owners

MetalMax review: who owns it, 12 locations, panel specs and gauges, warranty fine print, Florida approvals, pricing and how it compares with rivals.

MetalMax Review (2026): Panels, Warranty, Locations, Owners

By The Roofing Brief Team | Last reviewed: October 2026

MetalMax (MetalMax Roofing & Siding, legally MetalMax, LLC) is a privately held manufacturer of steel roofing and siding panels, trim and building packages headquartered in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. It roll-forms and sells from 12 locations in nine states, from Florida to Oregon, delivers on its own trucks and sells to contractors and homeowners by quote. It does not publish prices online.

This review is built from MetalMax’s own website, its 2026 panel sell sheets, installation guides, color chart, Sherwin-Williams reflectivity report and warranty PDF, plus public approval records, BBB listings and local news coverage, all checked in October 2026. The finding most buyers miss: MetalMax’s own documents describe its paint warranty three different ways, so the signed warranty matters more than any headline.

MetalMax: key numbers at a glance

These are the figures people usually look up before calling MetalMax: where it is, who runs it, what it makes, what the warranty document says and whether prices are posted. Each row names its source, all seen in October 2026. Terms can change, so confirm them on your written quote and warranty.

Who owns MetalMax?

MetalMax, LLC describes itself as a family-owned company, and news reports and BBB records tie it to Murfreesboro businessman Brian Berryman. The Daily News Journal reported in May 2019 that Berryman “also operates Metalmax Roofing & Siding and MaxSteel Buildings” alongside Old Hickory Buildings & Sheds. BBB’s Murfreesboro profile lists him as shareholder and Gary Henderson as president.

In a February 2019 Daily News Journal report on a proposed Murfreesboro headquarters and factory, Berryman said the office “would mainly serve Old Hickory Buildings LLC and Metalmax LLC” and that the factory would serve Metalmax and MaxSteel Buildings. He said the companies moved their headquarters to Murfreesboro in 2011. MetalMax’s LinkedIn profile lists it as privately held and founded in 2010.

Three naming overlaps confuse searches. MetalMax Building Systems (metalmaxbuildingsystems.com) is the same company’s cold-formed building site and lists the same 12 addresses. LENOX MetalMax is an unrelated cutting-wheel brand, and MetalMax Toitures is an unrelated Montreal roofer. None of MetalMax’s pages mention a parent company, unlike Union Corrugating, which states it is a Cornerstone Building Brands brand.

Where are MetalMax locations?

MetalMax lists 12 locations: Murfreesboro, TN; Texarkana and Waco, TX; Arcadia, Freeport and Kissimmee, FL; Calhoun, GA; Athens, AL; Dayton (Union), OH; Cherokee, IA; Concord, NH; and Hermiston, OR. The company says it manufactures at all 12 and delivers from them on its own trucks. Each location page says it will discuss delivery outside its region.

Hermiston, OR is MetalMax’s only listed location in the Pacific Northwest. Taylor Metal, a western roll-former, lists panels produced in Salem, Oregon; Auburn and Spokane, Washington; and Sacramento and Riverside, California. For that western alternative, see our Taylor Metal Products review.

For metal roofing in Murfreesboro, TN, the headquarters location says it serves Smyrna, Franklin, Lebanon, Spring Hill and the wider Middle Tennessee area. It also advertises a job-site roll former that forms all of MetalMax’s standing seam profiles and cuts them to length on site. MetalMax panel specs: coverage, gauge and slope

MetalMax’s exposed-fastener panels cover 24 or 36 inches and come in 29 to 24 gauge, while its standing seam panels cover 14 to 18 inches in 26 to 22 gauge or aluminum. Minimum slopes run from 1/2:12 on MaxMech200 to 3:12 on MaxPanel, MaxStrong, MaxLoc100 and MaxSnap150. Each row comes from the dated sell sheet.

Source: MetalMax panel sell sheets dated March 20, April 29 and May 21, 2026. “al” = aluminum. MaxLoc100 maximum length is 30 ft in steel and 25 ft in aluminum per its sell sheet.

Two spec conflicts are worth settling before you order. The MaxLoc100 web page lists a 7/8 inch rib while the May 2026 sell sheet says 1 inch, and MetalMax’s product menu describes MaxSeam175 with 14 inch coverage while its product page and sell sheet list 14 or 18 inch. Ask the location which version its roll former produces.

MaxPanel shares the 36 inch, 3/4 inch rib, 9 inch on-center geometry sold as MasterRib, Tuff-Rib and similar names by other mills. Our master rib metal roof guide compares those panels and their fastening.

Substrates and paint systems

MetalMax says it uses Galvalume (55 percent aluminum-zinc) coated steel: AZ50 under paint and AZ55 on bare panels, per its 5V Crimp and MaxStrong sell sheets. MaxStrong is also listed in G90 galvanized. Its standard paint is Sherwin-Williams WeatherXL, a siliconized polyester (SMP), and PVDF (Kynar) is offered on most standing seam profiles, PBR and PBU.

The color page lists SMP colors for 29 and 26 gauge and Kynar colors for 26, 24 and 22 gauge and .032 and .040 inch aluminum. The April 2026 color chart marks Alamo White and Pewter Gray as 29 gauge only, and Brilliant White, Copper Penny, Polar White and Black as available in 26 gauge only “at select locations.” The 5V Crimp page says that panel comes only in bare Galvalume, though the sell sheet mentions painted options by region.

MetalMax colors and solar reflectance

MetalMax publishes a Sherwin-Williams lab report (No. 2024-1430R, dated September 11, 2024) with solar reflectance, thermal emittance and Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) for 20 WeatherXL colors on Galvalume. SRI runs from 24 for Ocean Blue to 84 for Brilliant White. A higher SRI means a cooler roof surface in sun.

WeatherXL color Initial solar reflectance (ASTM C1549) Thermal emittance (ASTM C1371) SRI (ASTM E1980)

Source: Sherwin-Williams certified laboratory test report 2024-1430R, published by MetalMax as its Reflectivity Index (March 2026 file), sorted here by SRI. Values are initial, not aged. Availability by gauge and location varies.

The spread matters in hot climates and where local energy codes set cool-roof minimums. Brilliant White reflects 69 percent of sunlight and Black 26 percent, per the report. If your jurisdiction or a program requires a minimum reflectance or SRI, check whether it asks for initial or 3-year aged values, since this report lists initial values only.

What warranty does MetalMax give?

MetalMax’s posted warranty is a Limited Lifetime SMP Paint Warranty for WeatherXL painted panels. It covers cracking, peeling and loss of adhesion for the original owner’s lifetime and chalk and fade for 30 years, limits company-owned buildings to 40 years, and caps MetalMax’s total liability at the panels’ purchase price. Other MetalMax pages describe the coverage differently.

MetalMax document What it says about the paint warranty
Limited Lifetime SMP Paint Warranty PDF (also in the May 2026 MaxPanel install guide) Lifetime crack, check, peel and adhesion for the original owner; 30-year chalk and fade; 40 years if the owner is a company
Home and contact pages “Limited Lifetime Paint Warranty on our WeatherXL coatings, backed by Sherwin Williams”
Standard color chart (rev. April 30, 2026) “All Colors Available with a 40 Year Limited Paint Warranty”
FAQ page Unpainted panels carry a 25-year limited warranty; painted panels use a “40-year paint system”
LinkedIn company profile Products “backed by our 40 year guarantee”
MaxSeam175, MaxMech150 and MaxMech200 sell sheets List a “weathertight warranty”; no weathertight warranty document is posted

What the MetalMax warranty fine print says

The conditions in MetalMax’s posted paint warranty decide most claims. They are stricter than the “limited lifetime” headline in several places: the chalk and fade clock is 30 years, salt water and hail are excluded, and a few terms would apply to many coastal and solar-ready homes.

  • Chalk and fade limits: no worse than ASTM D4214 rating 6 on roofs and 8 on walls, and no more than 7 Hunter delta-E units of color change on roofs and 5 on walls, for 30 years from installation or 30 years and one month from shipment, whichever comes first. Brite Red has looser limits.
  • Coastal exclusion: not valid on property 1,500 feet or less from a salt water environment.
  • Hail and attachments: hail damage is excluded, as are panels with snow guards or solar panels attached or adhered.
  • Fasteners and lumber: damage from fastener contact is excluded and fastener selection “rests solely with the buyer”; damage from treated or wet lumber is excluded.
  • Transfer: the warranty is not transferable after one year from the purchase date and covers panels installed in the continental United States.
  • Claims: in writing to MetalMax, PO Box 331973, Murfreesboro, TN 37133, within 30 days of discovering the defect, with order number, shipment and installation dates.
  • Remedy: MetalMax may refinish, replace or refund the panels; total liability is limited to the purchase price of the panels.

Storage also matters. MetalMax’s safety and storage page says failure to follow its storage and handling procedures voids any applicable warranty, and asks buyers to check orders within 24 hours of delivery.

Is MetalMax approved in Florida and Texas?

MetalMax lists Florida product approvals for several panels and Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) evaluations RC-734 to RC-738 on its certifications page. Florida approval FL42128, held by MetalMax Roofing and Siding, is approved under the 2023 Florida Building Code (revision R1) for four panels over plywood. Each listing has width limits.

Approval Panel and assembly named Holder or source
FL42128.1 Max150SL: max 15-3/8 in wide, min 26 ga snap-lock standing seam over min 15/32 in plywood MetalMax Roofing and Siding; 2023 FBC, R1
FL42128.2 MaxLoc: max 16 in wide, min 26 ga snap-lock nail strip over min 15/32 in plywood MetalMax Roofing and Siding; 2023 FBC, R1
FL42128.3 MaxSeam: max 14 in wide, min 26 ga snap-lock standing seam over min 15/32 in plywood MetalMax Roofing and Siding; 2023 FBC, R1
FL42128.4 PBR: min 26 ga, 36 in through-fastened over min 15/32 in plywood MetalMax Roofing and Siding; 2023 FBC, R1
FL41914.1 / FL41915.1 PBR roof and PBR siding, 26 or 24 ga Listed on MetalMax certifications page
FL9329.1 to .3 26 and 29 ga 3/4 in rib panel (MaxPanel) and 26 ga 5V Crimp Evaluation report names Freeport Metal, Freeport, FL
TDI RC-734 to RC-738 PBR over purlins and plywood; MaxSeam, MaxLoc and Max150SL over plywood Listed on MetalMax certifications page

Sources: MetalMax certifications page; Florida approval FL42128 record as republished by EngineeringPlans.com from Florida Building Commission data; FL9329 evaluation report (R5) by Locke Bowden, P.E., all checked October 2026. Verify current status at floridabuilding.org and with TDI before permitting.

Two gaps are easy to miss. FL42128.3 covers MaxSeam only up to 14 inches wide, so the 18 inch MaxSeam175 may need a separate approval, and the Max150SL listing caps width at 15-3/8 inches while the MaxSnap150 sell sheet lists 15.625 inch coverage. Ask MetalMax which approval covers the exact panel you are buying.

The FL9329 report lists design uplift pressures, which include a 2:1 safety factor, for the 3/4 inch rib panel over 1×4 wood purlins on plywood: -106.75 psf for 26 gauge with fastener rows at 24 inch spacing and -164.25 psf at 12 inch spacing, and -86.0 to -116.0 psf for 29 gauge depending on the fastening pattern. It allows 2:12 minimum slope with sealant in side laps below 3:12, while MetalMax’s MaxPanel sell sheet lists 3:12.

Does MetalMax list prices online?

No. MetalMax does not publish panel, trim or building package prices on metalmax.com as of October 2026; every product routes to a free quote form or a location phone number. Its featured building packages say “Prices vary based on local building codes, material costs & project management requirements.” The only price figure on its site is a general one.

That figure comes from a September 2023 MetalMax article, which says metal “will typically be in the upper-middle in terms of cost for roofing options, usually checking in between $6 to $12 per square foot.” For a closer material benchmark, other sellers listed panels with MaxPanel’s 36 inch, 3/4 inch rib geometry in October 2026.

Comparable panel (not MetalMax) Listed price, seen Oct 2026 Per sq ft of coverage Where recorded
Tuff-Rib, 29 ga painted, 3 ft x 10 ft $29.99 per panel About $1.00 True Metal Supply, per our Tuff-Rib metal roofing guide
Miramac Tuff Rib, 29 ga white, 12 ft $49.49 per panel About $1.37 Moscow and Pullman Building Supply, same guide
MasterRib, 29 ga bare Galvalume, 10 ft $26.00 per panel About $0.87 Classic Metals, per our master rib guide
MasterRib, 26 ga painted, 10 ft $53.00 per panel About $1.77 PBS Direct, same guide

Per-square-foot figures are Roofing Brief arithmetic: price divided by length, divided by 3 ft of coverage. These are other companies’ prices for the same geometry, shown only as a benchmark; MetalMax’s quote may be higher or lower.

MaxPanel material takeoff for a 2,000 sq ft roof

MetalMax’s May 2026 MaxPanel installation guide gives its own takeoff rules: divide eave length by panel coverage for panel count, plan one screw per square foot of panel, and buy flashing in 10 ft 6 in stock lengths with 10 screws per piece. Applied to 2,000 sq ft of roof surface, the numbers below are a Roofing Brief estimate.

Line (Roofing Brief estimate) Arithmetic Result
Panel area with 10% waste 2,000 x 1.10 2,200 sq ft
Linear feet of 36 in MaxPanel 2,200 / 3 About 733 lin ft
Panels per 40 ft eave 40 / 3, rounded up 14 panels
Panel screws (MetalMax rule) 1 per sq ft x 2,200 About 2,200 screws
Flashing for 160 ft of eave, rake and ridge 160 / 10, 10 screws each 16 pieces, 160 screws
Panel material at comparable listings 2,200 x $0.87 to $1.77 About $1,914 to $3,894

The 160 ft of trim runs is an example for a simple gable roof; measure your own. Underlayment, closures, sealant, freight and tax are excluded.

What does a MetalMax roof cost installed?

Installed, a roof built with MetalMax exposed-fastener panels such as MaxPanel would typically fall in the $6 to $10 per square foot range, or about $12,000 to $20,000 for 2,000 sq ft, and standing seam such as MaxLoc100 or MaxSeam175 in the $10 to $18 range, or about $20,000 to $36,000. Those ranges come from our 2026 Roofing Cost Report.

Labor, tear-off, decking repair, flashing and permits make up most of the gap between a materials figure and an installed price. Roof pitch, valleys and local labor rates move the total. Our 2026 metal roof cost guide breaks down installed pricing by profile and region.

How to order from MetalMax

Ordering from MetalMax runs through a quote from your nearest location, followed by cut-to-length production and delivery on MetalMax trucks. There is no online checkout for panels. These steps follow the company’s quote form, FAQ, location pages and safety and storage page, as published in October 2026.

  1. Pick the panel and color. Use the panel table above and MetalMax’s online visualizer, then confirm the color exists in your gauge at your location.
  2. Request a quote. Use the free quote form, which asks whether you are a contractor or homeowner, whether you need a contractor, and your roof, wall and trim colors, or call the location.
  3. Send exact lengths. MetalMax custom cuts panels to the nearest 1/8 inch; panels over 32 ft are available but carry an extra freight charge.
  4. Ask for the documents. Request the warranty that will be issued for your order and, in Florida or coastal Texas, the product approval for that exact panel width.
  5. Arrange delivery. MetalMax delivers to the job site on its own trucks; for standing seam, ask about the job-site roll former.
  6. Inspect within 24 hours. MetalMax asks buyers to check the order for shortages and damage within 24 hours and to keep all receipts, since warranty claims need order records.
  7. Store panels correctly. Store indoors, off the ground with one end raised, under a loose canvas tarp; MetalMax says never to use plastic tarps, which trap condensation.

Does MetalMax install roofs?

MetalMax sells materials, not roofing labor. Its safety and storage page says it “acts only as a manufacturer of metal roofing, siding, and their components, and has no control over construction, application, or condition.” Its residential page recommends hiring a roofing professional experienced with metal, and the quote form asks whether you need a contractor.

MetalMax building systems: post-frame and cold-formed steel

MetalMax sells two building systems: post-frame (pole barn) packages built on large posts and engineered steel trusses, and cold-formed steel buildings made from roll-formed galvanized members with bolted connections. Its featured post-frame packages are marked available in Tennessee and Alabama, and its cold-formed packages in all states.

Featured package System Size and area Availability
Garage / shop Post-frame 30 x 36 x 14 ft, 1,080 sq ft TN and AL
Pavilion Post-frame 40 x 60 x 14 ft, 2,400 sq ft TN and AL
Single slope garage Cold-formed steel 30 x 50 x 12 ft, 1,500 sq ft All states
Gambrel roof barn Cold-formed steel 30 x 30 x 14 ft, 900 sq ft All states
Large equipment barn Cold-formed steel 60 x 80 x 16 ft, 4,800 sq ft All states

Source: metalmax.com building systems pages, October 2026. No package prices are published.

MetalMax claims cold-formed buildings need 20 to 25 percent less concrete than conventional red iron buildings and use drill-in anchors instead of pre-set anchor bolts. Its cold-formed building site lists Max-Rib, R-Panel and Multi-Rib panels in 26 gauge, with Kynar 500 (PVDF) standard on R-Panel.

MetalMax reviews and BBB record

MetalMax is not BBB accredited. BBB lists two profiles: Metalmax Roofing and Siding in Murfreesboro, TN (alternate name MetalMax, LLC; 16 years in business), and MetalMax in Texarkana, TX, which shows an A+ rating. Both were read as indexed in Google search results in October 2026, because BBB blocked direct page loads.

Public review samples are small. In October 2026, search results showed a 5.0 Yelp rating from one review for the Murfreesboro location and a 5-star Facebook rating from six reviews for Texarkana. Indeed showed a 3.1 employer rating from 12 employee reviews, which reflects working conditions, not products. The testimonials on metalmax.com are chosen by the company.

An A+ BBB rating reflects BBB’s grading formula, not a product test. Small samples like these can swing on a single experience, so ask the nearest location for local contractor references and look at completed roofs in your area.

MetalMax vs Best Buy Metals, Metal Sales and Union Corrugating

MetalMax is a mid-sized regional roll-former: 12 locations, its own trucks, and quote-only pricing, with a limited lifetime SMP paint warranty. Metal Sales and Union Corrugating are larger, older mills that sell mainly through branches, distributors and contractors. Each fact below comes from that company’s own website in October 2026.

Company Founded and base Footprint How you buy Paint warranty headline Ownership stated
MetalMax 2010 (LinkedIn); Murfreesboro, TN 12 locations in 9 states Quote by form or phone; own-truck delivery; no published prices Limited lifetime SMP; 30-yr chalk/fade (color chart says 40-yr) Family-owned, private

Is MetalMax right for your project?

MetalMax fits buyers near one of its 12 locations who want cut-to-length steel delivered, and builders who want panels and a post-frame or cold-formed package from one source. It fits less well within 1,500 feet of salt water, where its paint warranty does not apply, or when you need a published price to compare. Use the table to match your situation.

Your situation Sensible next step
You live near one of the 12 MetalMax locations Quote locally and ask for the exact warranty document and lead time for your gauge and color
Your home is within 1,500 ft of salt water The posted MetalMax paint warranty excludes it; compare aluminum or PVDF options with coastal terms in writing
You plan solar panels or snow guards on the roof The posted warranty excludes panels with attachments; get written terms before ordering
You need Florida or TDI approval for permitting Confirm the approval covers your exact panel width, such as 14 in vs 18 in MaxSeam
You want the lowest-cost exposed-fastener roof Price MaxPanel in 29 gauge against comparable 36 in panels, then compare installed bids
You want hidden fasteners on a low-slope roof Look at MaxMech150 (1:12) or MaxMech200 (1/2:12) and ask for the weathertight warranty terms
You want a barn, shop or barndominium shell Ask about post-frame (TN and AL packages) or cold-formed steel (all states)
You need an installer MetalMax sells materials only; hire a licensed, insured contractor with metal roofing experience
