Metal Sales Manufacturing Review (2026): Owner, Plants, Panels, Warranties

By The Roofing Brief Team | Last reviewed: October 2026

Metal Sales Manufacturing Corporation is a steel roof and wall panel maker founded in 1963 and headquartered in Sellersburg, Indiana, and since September 15, 2025 it has been owned by Cornerstone Building Brands, per Cornerstone’s acquisition release. Its August 2026 product catalog lists 16 plants and more than 100 panel profiles, including Classic Rib, Pro-Panel II, 5V-Crimp, Image II, Vertical Seam and Magna-Loc, with paint warranties of 20 to 45 years that, per the June 2026 warranty documents, do not transfer to later owners.

Metal Sales Manufacturing is not the same business as Mid Michigan Metal Sales, 59 Metal Sales, USA Metal Sales or Quality Metal Sales, which share the words in their names and appear in the same search results. Every figure on this page comes from a dated Metal Sales document, an ICC-ES or Miami-Dade County record, a press release or a retail listing, each linked where it first appears.

Metal Sales Manufacturing: key numbers at a glance

Metal Sales Manufacturing has about 900 employees, 16 plants in 12 states, 6 standing seam profiles and a top paint warranty of 45 years on film integrity. The figures a buyer or job seeker usually wants first are in one place here, each tied to the document that states it, as published or checked on October 28, 2026.

Who owns Metal Sales Manufacturing?

Cornerstone Building Brands owns Metal Sales Manufacturing Corporation after an acquisition it announced on September 15, 2025. Lincoln International’s transaction record names the seller as Interlock Industries of Louisville, Kentucky, and lists Cornerstone as a portfolio company of the private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier and Rice (CD&R) of New York. Neither side published a price.

Cornerstone is headquartered in Cary, North Carolina, and its release counted more than 18,800 team members. The same group already owned the MBCI, Mueller and Union Corrugating metal brands, so Metal Sales now sits beside its former competitors. Matt Ackley, President of Shelter Solutions at Cornerstone, said the combined business has more than 100 plants and distribution locations serving what the company calls a $30 billion metal building and components market. Metal Sales repeated the announcement on its own blog.

For buyers, the ownership change shows up in small ways first: every branch in the October 2026 branch locator lists an order email at cornerstone-bb.com. Warranties are still issued in the name of Metal Sales Manufacturing Corporation on documents effective June 2026. The careers page still described a family owned company when checked on October 28, 2026, which is out of date.

Where are Metal Sales plants located?

Metal Sales lists 16 manufacturing branches in 12 states in both its August 2026 catalog and its Find Your Branch locator, even though other pages on the same site still say 21 locations in 17 states. Each branch roll-forms panels to length for its region, and the locator assigns a branch by project ZIP code. The Sellersburg, Indiana plant shares the headquarters address.

Addresses come from page 32 of the August 2026 catalog and the branch locator. The third column shows which branches the 29 Gauge Eastern Color Guide (9/2026) names; Metal Sales also publishes a 26 and 29 gauge Western guide, so ask your branch which chart applies. Metal Sales is not a Louisville, Kentucky company today, but the Louisville link is real: Sellersburg sits in Clark County, Indiana, within the Louisville metro, and Miami-Dade County’s product control record still lists the applicant at 545 South 3rd Street, Suite 200, Louisville, KY 40202.

Metal Sales manufacturing jobs are posted per branch. The careers page lists sales, manufacturing, design and distribution roles, and the Sellersburg branch page lists phone hours of 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Job seekers in the 12 states above have the most openings to look at.

What panels does Metal Sales make for houses and barns?

Metal Sales sells three panel families: exposed-fastener rib and corrugated panels (Classic Rib, Pro-Panel II, PBR-Panel, 5V-Crimp), concealed-fastener direct-fastened panels (Image II, Mini-Batten) and clip-attached standing seam (Vertical Seam, Magna-Loc 90 and 180, Seam-Loc 24, Snap-Loc 24, Clip-Loc). Seven of them cover most houses, garages and pole barns, and their published specs follow.

Weight per square (100 sq ft) is the psf figure times 100, so 29 gauge Classic Rib weighs about 63 lb per square and 24 gauge Magna-Loc 90 about 125 lb, before trim and fasteners. The flyers list Classic Rib and Pro-Panel II steel at 80 ksi yield and Vertical Seam, Image II and Magna-Loc 90 at 50 ksi. For how these profiles compare across brands, see our guide to types of metal roof panels.

Classic Rib is the panel most homeowners meet first, because Lowe’s stocks it in 8 and 12 ft lengths and regional lumberyards such as McCoy’s list 14 ft panels. Its 3/4 in bell-top rib on 9 in centers matches the Union Corrugating MasterRib and Tuff-Rib geometry, though rib shape differs by mill. Our Classic Rib panel review covers that single profile in depth.

Image II needs a solid deck with 30 lb felt under it, per the catalog, and Metal Sales also sells its own self-adhered underlayment, ms-HT: a 40 mil SBS modified bitumen sheet rated to 240°F, sold in 67 ft by 3 ft rolls covering 183 sq ft net and weighing 45 lb, with a 90 day maximum exposure before panels go on. Standing seam details such as clips, closures and ridge terminations are on our standing seam metal roof details page.

What wind, hail and fire ratings do Metal Sales panels carry?

Every residential profile in the August 2026 catalog lists UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance and UL 790 Class A fire resistance per assembly, and most carry UL 580 Class 90 uplift. Florida and Miami-Dade approvals differ much more by panel. On October 28, 2026, Miami-Dade County’s applicant record showed 11 active Metal Sales approvals, including the ms-HT underlayment, and none of them was for Classic Rib.

UL and Florida numbers come from the August 2026 catalog; NOA expiry dates come from the Miami-Dade applicant list. The Classic Rib NOA PDF posted on the Metal Sales site shows approval on 08/19/2021, expiry on 08/24/26 and a maximum design pressure of minus 133.9 psf. If your job is in Miami-Dade or Broward County, ask the branch for a current NOA before ordering Classic Rib, or use 5V-Crimp, whose NOA 23-0222.06 lists a maximum design pressure of minus 196.75 psf.

ESR-2385 Table 4 gives allowable uplift for 29 gauge Classic Rib over 15/32 in plywood, fastened with #9-16 or #10-14 by 1.5 in hex head wood screws with sealed washers at 9 in across the panel width. Uplift capacity roughly doubles as the screw rows close up along the panel length, as shown here.

Two conditions in ESR-2385 matter to homeowners. Section 5.2 says the panels must be installed only by applicators approved by Metal Sales Manufacturing Corporation, so a building official relying on the report can ask who approved your installer. Table 1 lists the Woodland and Fontana, California plants as the evaluated manufacturing facilities, so a job using panels from another branch may need the Florida, Texas or UL listing instead. UL 2218 Class 4 measures cracking and penetration from a 2 in steel ball, not cosmetic dents.

How does the Metal Sales warranty work?

Metal Sales publishes six panel warranties effective June 2026, from the 20 year Versa20 to 45 year film integrity on MS Colorfast45, PVDF and MS Crinkle finishes. All six are product-only: they cover repainting or replacing nonconforming panels, exclude labor, and are extended only to the Buyer who purchased from Metal Sales, as nontransferable and nonassignable.

AZ55 Galvalume, acrylic coated, unpainted 45 years against rupture, structural failure or perforation Not covered Not covered Excluded within 1,500 ft AZ55 Galvalume warranty

The resin labels come from Metal Sales’ MS Colorfast45 brochure, its ColorFit40 paint spec and its PVDF paint spec. The salt water setbacks are not the same unit: 1,100 yards is 3,300 ft, more than twice the 1,500 ft line on the PVDF and Galvalume documents, so a house 2,000 ft from the ocean falls outside the SMP warranties but inside the PVDF terms. Big-box Classic Rib is often ColorFit40, as the Lowe’s listing names it, so check which paint system is on your invoice.

Common exclusions run through all six documents: damage from snow retention systems or solar panel attachments, field painting, mechanical perforation, wet storage stain from nested panels kept damp, contact with copper or runoff from copper or lead, and roofs without enough slope to drain. The Galvalume warranty also voids coverage on roof sections flatter than 1/4:12 and on bends tighter than 2T for sheet 0.030 in and thinner.

Because the Buyer is usually the contractor or lumberyard, not the homeowner, ask at signing for the warranty form at the bottom of each document to be completed with the project name, project address, owner name, installer name and MSMC invoice number. The painted-panel warranties also require claims within 30 days of discovering a defect, with records showing order number, ship date and installation date.

Metal Sales colors and solar reflectance

Metal Sales’ September 2026 color guides list 18 painted MS Colorfast45 colors on 29 gauge Eastern stock and 20 standard PVDF colors plus 4 upcharge metallics on 24 gauge, each with tested solar reflectance (ASTM C1549), emittance (ASTM C1371) and SRI (ASTM E1980). The guides note that not every color is stocked at every branch.

Color (code), paint system Solar reflectance Emittance SRI Source
Bright White (39), MS Colorfast45 0.64 0.85 76 29 Gauge Eastern guide, 9/2026

Galvalume (41), unpainted 0.67 0.14 56 29 Gauge Eastern guide, 9/2026

Bare Galvalume reflects about as much sunlight as Bright White but has an emittance of 0.14, so it sheds absorbed heat poorly and scores SRI 56 against 76. Patriot Red and Native Copper carry an upcharge on 29 gauge. For whites from eight makers compared side by side, see our white metal roof comparison.

Where Metal Sales documents disagree

Metal Sales’ catalog, flyers, ICC-ES report, website and Miami-Dade listing were all current in October 2026, yet they disagree on 6 checkable points. None of the top search results for Metal Sales Manufacturing flags these, and each one changes what you order or what a building inspector accepts.

ICC-ES evaluation reports set code-compliance minimums, while the maker’s product literature reflects what Metal Sales will warrant and support, so a slope that passes the report but sits below the flyer figure can still void the paint warranty. When two Metal Sales documents conflict, get the branch’s answer in writing on the quote.

How much does a Metal Sales metal roof cost?

Metal Sales does not publish installed prices, so installed cost here uses our 2026 Roofing Cost Report ranges: $6 to $10 per sq ft for exposed-fastener steel such as Classic Rib and $10 to $18 per sq ft for steel standing seam such as Vertical Seam or Magna-Loc. Retail panel prices come from listings dated October 28, 2026, and may change.

Exposed-fastener ribbed steel runs $6 to $10 per sq ft installed in the 2026 Roofing Cost Report, against $10 to $18 for steel standing seam.

Two Metal Sales listings at McCoy’s Building Supply, as shown in Google Shopping on October 28, 2026, give a panel-only baseline: item 2293441-14, a 14 ft, 29 gauge Galvalume Classic Rib panel, at $46.99, and item 2505241-10, a 10 ft, 26 gauge Galvalume PBR panel in Milky Silver, at $35.99. Both cover 36 in, so each linear foot covers 3 sq ft of roof. Home Depot also stocks Pro-Panel II in 8 to 14 ft lengths.

Line (Roofing Brief estimate, 2,000 sq ft of roof surface) Arithmetic Result
Roof area with 10% waste 2,000 x 1.10 2,200 sq ft
Linear feet of 36 in coverage panel 2,200 / 3 About 733 lin ft
Classic Rib 29 ga Galvalume, McCoy’s $46.99 per 14 ft $46.99 / 14 = $3.36 per lin ft; x 733 About $2,460 (about $1.12 per sq ft)
PBR 26 ga Galvalume, McCoy’s $35.99 per 10 ft $35.99 / 10 = $3.60 per lin ft; x 733 About $2,640 (about $1.20 per sq ft)
Installed, exposed-fastener steel 2,000 x $6 to $10 $12,000 to $20,000
Installed, steel standing seam 2,000 x $10 to $18 $20,000 to $36,000

Panels are roughly 12% to 21% of the installed exposed-fastener total in this example, since $2,460 against $12,000 to $20,000 leaves labor, underlayment, trim, closures, screws, tear-off and permits as most of the bill. A 2,000 sq ft one-story house does not have 2,000 sq ft of roof: at a 6:12 pitch the slope factor is 1.118, so a 2,000 sq ft footprint carries about 2,236 sq ft of roof before overhangs. Our metal roof cost guide breaks out regional labor.

Metal Sales vs other metal roofing manufacturers

Metal Sales competes most directly with two Cornerstone sister brands, Mueller and Union Corrugating, and with the employee-owned McElroy Metal, which was also founded in 1963. Each company’s own site gives a different way to buy and a different footprint, as checked October 28, 2026.

Company Owner Founded Footprint, per its own site How you buy Source

McElroy Metal Employee-owned (ESOP) 1963 14 manufacturing facilities and 31 service centers Service centers and Metal Mart stores McElroy Metal About

On panel specs the 36 in rib panels are close cousins: Classic Rib and MasterRib share a 3/4 in rib on 9 in centers, while Mueller’s PBR lists 1/2:12 minimum slope against 1:12 for the Metal Sales PBR-Panel in the August 2026 catalog. For the sister brands in detail, see our Mueller metal roofing review and our Union Corrugating review.

Metal Sales reviews and BBB record

The Better Business Bureau keeps separate profiles for several Metal Sales branches, including Rock Island, Illinois; Independence, Missouri; Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania; Temple, Texas; and Louisville, Kentucky. BBB search results viewed on October 28, 2026 showed each as not BBB accredited, and the Rock Island profile showed an A+ rating; BBB pages block automated reading, so open the profile for your branch to see complaint counts.

Retail reviews on Home Depot and Lowe’s describe single purchases of 29 gauge panels, not roof systems, and Metal Sales sells most panels through contractors who never post reviews. Better evidence of fit is in the documents: a current NOA or Florida approval for your county, the warranty form completed in your name, and a branch quote that names gauge, paint system and length.

Which Metal Sales panel should you pick?

Match the panel to roof slope, deck type and code zone first, then to paint system and budget. The thresholds come from the August 2026 catalog, the 2026 flyers, the June 2026 warranties and the Miami-Dade list checked October 28, 2026.

How to order from Metal Sales

Metal Sales sells by branch and by cut list, with panels made to length, so an order takes 7 steps from ZIP code to warranty form. Each step uses the lengths, approvals and warranty rules in Metal Sales’ 2026 documents.

  1. Enter the project ZIP code in the Find Your Branch locator to get your branch, its phone number and its order email.
  2. Measure the roof slope and confirm the panel minimum: 3:12 for Classic Rib, Pro-Panel II, 5V-Crimp and Image II; 1:12 for PBR-Panel; 1/2:12 for Magna-Loc 90.
  3. Pick the paint system by distance to salt water: more than 1,100 yards for MS Colorfast45, ColorFit40 and Versa20; more than 1,500 ft for PVDF and MS Crinkle.
  4. Write a cut list in feet and inches per panel, staying between the 5 ft minimum factory cut (3 ft for Pro-Panel II) and the 45 ft or 30 ft maximum recommended length.
  5. Ask the branch for the approval that matches your panel, gauge and deck: a Florida FL number, a Miami-Dade NOA, a Texas Department of Insurance evaluation or ESR-2385.
  6. Inspect panels on delivery and store them dry and sloped, because wet storage stain voids every Metal Sales paint warranty.
  7. Have the warranty form completed with project name, address, owner, installer and MSMC invoice number, and keep the order number and ship date for any claim filed within 30 days of finding a defect.

Panel flyers, install guides, color guides and the 32 page catalog are all on the Metal Sales Literature page. Contractors who sell Hypersteel cold-formed steel buildings can apply to the separate approved installer program, which advertises buildings on site 4 to 6 weeks from order; it is a building program, not a roofing certification.

Frequently asked questions

Who owns Metal Sales?

Cornerstone Building Brands owns Metal Sales Manufacturing Corporation. Cornerstone announced the completed acquisition on September 15, 2025, and Lincoln International’s deal record names the seller as Interlock Industries of Louisville, Kentucky, and Cornerstone’s sponsor as the private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier and Rice. Metal Sales keeps its brand, its Sellersburg, Indiana headquarters and its 16 plants, and its 2026 catalog carries the line part of Cornerstone Building Brands.

Did Metal Sales get bought out?

Yes. Cornerstone Building Brands, the Cary, North Carolina owner of MBCI, Mueller and Union Corrugating, acquired Metal Sales on September 15, 2025. Before that, Metal Sales described itself as a family owned, privately held company, and its careers page still used that wording when checked on October 28, 2026. The deal terms and price were not published by either company.

What is Metal Sales’ manufacturing revenue?

Metal Sales does not publish revenue, and Cornerstone Building Brands does not break it out. The only public figure is an estimate: ZoomInfo’s company profile lists about $270.1 million, which is a modelled number, not a reported one. Verifiable size markers are about 900 employees, per Cornerstone’s September 2025 release, and 16 plants listed in the August 2026 product catalog.

What does Metal Sales do?

Metal Sales roll-forms steel and aluminum roof and wall panels, trim and accessories for residential, agricultural, commercial and architectural buildings. Its August 2026 catalog lists more than 100 profiles, from 29 gauge Classic Rib barn panels to 22 gauge Magna-Loc mechanically seamed standing seam, plus Hypersteel cold-formed steel buildings, Retro-Master and Roof Hugger retrofit systems and ms-HT high-temperature underlayment.

Where is Metal Sales Manufacturing Corporation headquartered?

Metal Sales Manufacturing Corporation is headquartered at 7800 Highway 60, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172, phone 800.406.7387. Sellersburg is in Clark County, Indiana, inside the Louisville, Kentucky metro area, which is why older listings and Miami-Dade County’s applicant record still show a Louisville address at 545 South 3rd Street. The company was founded in 1963.

How many locations does Metal Sales have?

Metal Sales’ website copy says 21 locations in 17 states, but its August 2026 product catalog and its online branch locator each list 16 plants in 12 states: Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington. Order through the branch the locator assigns to your ZIP code, since colors and gauges stocked differ by region.

Where can I find the Metal Sales product catalog PDF?

The current catalog is the 32 page Metal Sales Product Catalog dated August 2026, posted on the Literature page of metalsales.us.com. It lists every profile with coverage, rib height, gauges, minimum slope, finishes and test listings. Panel flyers dated 2026, color guides dated September 2026 and warranty documents effective June 2026 sit on the same site.

How much does a metal roof cost for a 2000 sq ft home?

For 2,000 square feet of roof surface, our 2026 Roofing Cost Report ranges put exposed-fastener steel such as Classic Rib at about $12,000 to $20,000 installed ($6 to $10 per sq ft) and steel standing seam at about $20,000 to $36,000 ($10 to $18 per sq ft). Panels alone can be near $2,500 at retail, so labor, trim and tear-off drive most of the total.
