Tropical Roofing Products Review (2026): 924 Specs, SKUs, Warranty and Prices

Tropical Roofing Products (TRP) now ships as SOPREMA: 924 ETERNA-SIL specs, old to new SKU chart, Miami-Dade NOAs, warranty terms and Oct 2026 prices.

Tropical Roofing Products Review (2026): 924 Specs, SKUs, Warranty and Prices

By The Roofing Brief Team | Last reviewed: October 2026

Tropical Roofing Products (TRP) is the Hallandale, Florida maker of roof coatings, mastics and cements that SOPREMA bought in 2022 and folded into the SOPREMA brand in January 2026, so its 924 ETERNA-SIL silicone, Rx ROOF REPAIR and 900-series acrylics now ship in SOPREMA pails under the same product numbers. SOPREMA says only the packaging and SKU prefix changed, with no change to product performance, per its October 16, 2025 transition notice.

Every figure below comes from a dated primary document: SOPREMA product data sheets (PDS) revised June and July 2026, the TRP to SOPREMA SKU conversion chart, two Miami-Dade County Notices of Acceptance (NOA 25-0917.16 and 25-0822.09), SOPREMA warranty Forms RC115 and C100, and retailer prices checked on October 19, 2026. The Roofing Brief did not test these coatings; where two SOPREMA documents disagree, both numbers are shown.

Who makes Tropical Roofing Products now?

SOPREMA, Inc., the US arm of the French family-owned SOPREMA group, has made Tropical Roofing Products since a 2022 acquisition, according to a Coatings Coffee Shop company post. TRP first shortened its name to TRP Roofing Products, then SOPREMA announced on October 16, 2025 that the whole line would move to the SOPREMA name by year-end 2025.

Unlabeled white five-gallon coating pails and drums on pallets in a roofing supply warehouse
SOPREMA ships the former Tropical Roofing Products coatings in 1, 5, 55 and 275 gallon containers, depending on the product.

SOPREMA CEO Tim Kersey framed the change as national brand consistency, and the Roofing Contractor report of January 6, 2026 says customers now receive SOPREMA-branded packaging, refreshed brochures and the Sop’Direct app. The TRP to SOPREMA FAQ adds that warehouse shipping locations, freight charges, broken-pallet fees and order minimums did not change, while return policy and lead times moved to SOPREMA terms.

The Tropical Roofing Products name still appears on government records: both Miami-Dade NOAs list the applicant as Tropical Roofing Products, Inc., including NOA 25-0822.09 approved on April 16, 2026, three months after the brand integration. A building official in South Florida may therefore see TRP on the approval and SOPREMA on the pail.

Tropical Roofing Products plants and addresses

Miami-Dade’s NOAs name four plants. Hallandale makes most of the line, Schoolcraft, Michigan is a second silicone plant for 924 and 9400, La Mirada, California makes the 997 primer, and Kansas City, Missouri makes the 120 and 126 aluminum coatings.

Searches for Tropical Roofing Products jobs and reviews mostly surface an Indeed employer page; for the product record, the Miami-Dade files and SOPREMA data sheets are more useful than star ratings.

Old TRP SKUs and their new SOPREMA names

Every TRP part number changed its prefix from TRO- to SOP- and kept the product number, so TRO-924-5 became SOP-924-5. Several sub-brands disappeared in the same move: ETERNALASTIC, ETERNAMASTIC, ETERNAPATCH and ETERNAFOAM became plain descriptive names, per SOPREMA’s 4-page SKU conversion chart.

SOPREMA’s FAQ warns that some TRP SKUs will be rationalized and some existing SOPREMA SKUs discontinued, so a quote that lists a TRO- number from 2025 may need a substitute. Two rows are easy to misread: 911FD is the former 911 Fast Dry, and Rx ROOF REPAIR EF is the former solvent-free Rx, not the standard solvent-based Rx.

Tropical Roofing Products 924 ETERNA-SIL specs, and how 923, 901 and Rx compare

The 924 ETERNA-SIL PREMIUM is the product most buyers mean by Tropical Roofing Products 924: a solvent-free, single-component, moisture-cured 100% silicone sold in 1, 5 and 55 gallon sizes, per the SOPREMA 924 product page. Its sibling 923 is solvent-based, which lowers solids to 70% by volume but raises elongation to 420%.

Two practical splits follow from that table. The 901 acrylic data sheet calls for 3.0 gal per 100 sq ft and says not to use it in areas with ponding water, while both silicones are described as resistant to ponding water, so drainage decides acrylic versus silicone on a low-slope roof. The 924 also carries one-fifth the VOC limit of 923 (50 g/L versus 250 g/L), which matters on occupied buildings with rooftop air intakes.

The 924 comes in 6 standard colors (White, Dark Gray, Light Gray, Reflective Tan, Safety Yellow, Santa Fe Tan) on a 2-week lead time and 9 premium colors, including Cardinal Red, Patina Green and Mansard Brown, on a 3 to 4 week lead time with a 90-gallon minimum order in steps of 90, 180 and 270 gallons, per the 924 color chart (rev. 260626). SOPREMA’s brochure adds that only white coatings are permitted over asphaltic roofs.

How much does a 5-gallon pail of Tropical Roofing Products 924 cover?

A 5-gallon pail of 924 covers 333 sq ft at the 1.5 gallons per 100 sq ft minimum on the June 2026 data sheet, which yields at least 23 mils of dry film. Warranty-length builds use more: the SOPREMA silicone and acrylic coatings brochure (rev. 251218) ties 10, 15 and 20 year system terms to 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 gallons per 100 sq ft of 924.

Product 10-year build 15-year build 20-year build Sq ft per 5-gal pail (10 / 15 / 20 yr)
924 ETERNA-SIL PREMIUM 1.50 gal/sq (24 wet / 22 dry mils) 2.00 gal/sq (32 / 30) 2.50 gal/sq (40 / 38) 333 / 250 / 200
923 ETERNA-SIL 2.00 gal/sq (31 / 22) 2.75 gal/sq (42 / 30) 3.50 gal/sq (53 / 38) 250 / 182 / 143
901, 911 or 921 acrylic 3.00 gal/sq (48 / 26) 4.00 gal/sq (64 / 35) 5.00 gal/sq (80 / 44) 167 / 125 / 100

One square is 100 sq ft. The brochure says application rates are job-specific and tells estimators to add a surface factor of 15% to 40% for metal roof profiles, so a 2,000 sq ft corrugated roof at the 10-year 924 rate needs 30 gallons flat plus 4.5 to 12 gallons for the ribs.

Check the mils yourself: the 1,604 rule

One US gallon is 231 cubic inches, and spread over 100 sq ft (14,400 square inches) it makes a film 0.01604 inch, or 16.04 mils, thick. Multiply gallons per 100 sq ft by 16.04 for wet mils, then by the solids-by-volume fraction for dry mils; the results match SOPREMA’s published figures within rounding.

Product and rate Wet mils (gal x 16.04) Solids by volume Dry mils (calculated) SOPREMA figure
924 at 1.5 gal per 100 sq ft 24.1 96% 23.1 23 DFT (PDS); 22 DFT (brochure)
924 at 2.5 gal per 100 sq ft 40.1 96% 38.5 40 WFT / 38 DFT (brochure)
923 at 1.9 gal per 100 sq ft 30.5 70% 21.3 21 DFT (PDS)
901 at 3.0 gal per 100 sq ft 48.1 54% 26.0 48 WFT / 26 DFT (brochure)

The arithmetic explains why a cheaper-looking 923 pail is not cheaper per mil: at 70% solids it needs 2.0 gallons to reach the 22 dry mils that 924 reaches with 1.5 gallons. For deeper background on wet and dry film, see our roof coating mil thickness chart.

Tropical Roofing Products price list: October 2026 retail listings

SOPREMA does not publish a public price list for the former TRP line, and QXO hides its Tropical Roofing Products prices behind a trade login. Single-pail retail listings checked on October 19, 2026 put the 924 at $48.57 to $76.90 per gallon, with Panther East and Lakefront Supply giving the clearest numbers.

Worked example: material cost for a 2,000 sq ft smooth BUR roof

SOPREMA’s brochure requires 996 ASPHALT BLEED BLOCKER under 924 on smooth built-up roofing, APP, SBS and mineral cap sheets unless its Technical Services signs off, so an asphalt roof carries a primer line that a metal roof does not. This Roofing Brief estimate uses Panther East pail prices and the brochure’s 15 and 20 year rates; the Rx allowance is an assumption for seams and penetrations.

Line item 15-year build 20-year build Basis
996 bleed blocker at 1.0 gal per square, 20 squares 20 gal = 4 pails x $190.00 = $760.00 $760.00 Brochure rate 1.0 to 2.0 gal/sq; NOA minimum 1.0 gal per 100 sq ft
924 coating 2.0 gal/sq = 40 gal = 8 pails x $272.00 = $2,176.00 2.5 gal/sq = 50 gal = 10 pails = $2,720.00 Brochure warranty table
Rx ROOF REPAIR detailing allowance 1 x 2-gal pail = $129.95 $129.95 Assumption
Material total $3,065.95 $3,609.95 Sum
Material per sq ft $1.53 $1.80 Total / 2,000 sq ft
Same, at the $242.86 pail price for 924 $2,832.83 ($1.42/sq ft) $3,318.55 ($1.66/sq ft) Lakefront Supply listing

Compare that with installed prices: HomeGuide lists silicone roof coating at $1.50 to $4.50 per sq ft installed, and Angi (Aug 5, 2026) gives $0.65 to $5 per sq ft for roof coating in general. A silicone bid near $1.50 per sq ft installed is hard to square with a 20-year 924 build at retail pail prices, so ask the bidder to write the gallons per square and the dry mils on the proposal.

Tropical Roofing Products warranty: RC115 product warranty vs C100 labor and material

There are two different warranties, and the one that pays for labor needs a SOPREMA authorized contractor. Form RC115 names Tropical Roofing Products® branded goods and gives 10 years of material coverage from purchase, while the C100 Standard Labor and Material Roof Coating Warranty (09/2026) covers leaks caused by a coating defect for the registered term.

Term RC115 Limited Warranty for Roof Coating Products (07/2024) C100 Standard Labor and Material (09/2026)
Who can get it Any buyer of SOPREMA, Chem Link, RESISTO or Tropical Roofing Products® branded products Building owner, through a SOPREMA authorized contractor registered on the SOPREMA Warranty Hub
Length 10 years; 1 year for sealant products; starts on the purchase date Term written on the warranty; brochure builds support 10, 15 or 20 years
What it pays Replacement product or refund, capped at the invoiced product price Years 0 to 2: SOPREMA supplies coating, contractor supplies labor. After year 2: SOPREMA supplies coating and reimburses an authorized contractor’s labor
Labor and workmanship Excluded Covered only as above
Notable exclusions Workmanship; products used past shelf life Wind, hail, hurricane, lack of positive slope or inadequate drainage, color fading or staining, substrate leaks
Claim deadlines Lawsuit within 1 year of the cause of action, in Medina County, Ohio or N.D. Ohio Claim within 30 days of finding the leak; wind and hail claims need a PE-sealed report
Owner duties Proper storage and installation At least 2 documented care and maintenance inspections per year (Form 901)
Transfer Not stated Written request within 6 months of sale plus SOPREMA’s transfer fee

The drainage exclusion is the clause to read twice. Silicone is sold on ponding-water resistance, yet C100 lists the lack of positive slope or inadequate drainage among conditions outside its scope, and TRP’s own 924 system spec cites the NRCA view that ponding is undesirable on any roof and says corrective drainage work should be considered before coating. For how material-only and NDL coating warranties differ across brands, see our roof coating warranty guide.

Miami-Dade NOAs and what they do not allow

Tropical Roofing Products holds two current Miami-Dade Notices of Acceptance, which South Florida building departments use to check coating products in the High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) of the Florida Building Code. Both are listed on the county’s Product Control applicant page under Tropical Roofing Products, Inc.

NOA Products Approved Expires Key conditions
25-0917.16 923, 924 (also sold as ALSAN COATING SIL 402), 996, 997, Rx ROOF REPAIR, 9400 (also ALSAN COATING SIL 402 Flashing) Nov 27, 2025 Sep 6, 2028 924 at 1.20 gal per 100 sq ft or 18 mils DFT minimum; 923 at 1.60 gal; applied only by factory-trained, certified applicators
25-0822.09 Asphalt cements 101, 104, 216, 410, 501, 509, 701, 711, 805, 2100; aluminum 120 and 126; acrylic 911 (also ALSAN COATING AC 401), 950, 951 Apr 16, 2026 Aug 23, 2027 911 at 1.20 gal per 100 sq ft or 18 mils DFT minimum; 950 and 951 tested to TAS 139; 911 to ASTM D6083

Both NOAs say the products are not approved as, and shall not be used as, a roof or waterproofing system under Florida Building Code Chapter 15 HVHZ, and both leave fire classification out of the acceptance. NOA 25-0917.16 also bars the silicones over asphalt shingles, metal shingles, fiber-cement shingles, slate, clay or concrete tile, and wood shingles or shakes.

The NOAs also show who else sells these formulas. NOA 25-0822.09 lists 2100 PREMIUM RUBBERIZED FLASHING CEMENT under names including Tri-Built AF Modified Bitumen Flashing Cement, GulfEagle Modified Flashing Cement and COLPLY FLASHING CEMENT, and lists 101 ALL-WEATHER PLASTIC CEMENT as Tri-Built AF Plastic Cement; TRI-BUILT is the private label of QXO, the former Beacon.

Where the SOPREMA documents disagree

Reading the June 2026 data sheets against the December 2025 brochure and the Miami-Dade NOAs turns up five mismatches that change an estimate or a delivery plan. None of the top-ranking distributor pages for Tropical Roofing Products flags them, so confirm the controlling number with SOPREMA before ordering.

Searches for a tropical roof coating often return Henry 887 Tropi-Cool, which Henry Company of El Segundo, California makes and which has no connection to Tropical Roofing Products. The table compares 924 with Henry 887 Tropi-Cool, GacoFlex S20 (data sheet rev. 08/2026) and APOC 576 on each maker’s own published figures.

Tensile numbers measured under ASTM D412 and ASTM D2370 are not directly comparable, so the 240 versus 300 psi gap between 924 and Henry 887 says less than it appears. The clearer differences are buying channel and documentation: Henry 887 sells at Home Depot for $369.00 per 4.75 gallons, while 924 sells mostly through roofing distributors at $242.86 to $272.00 per 5 gallons, with a 2026 data sheet and a current HVHZ acceptance. Our best silicone roof coating rankings cover more brands, and our APOC roof coating guide decodes the APOC numbers.

How to apply 924 ETERNA-SIL over an existing low-slope roof

SOPREMA’s data sheet points installers to its Roof Coatings Technical Manual and says adhesion or peel tests should come first. The sequence below compiles the steps and numbers from the 924 PDS, the 2025 brochure and NOA 25-0917.16.

Roofer rolling white silicone coating over an aged gray low-slope commercial roof
SOPREMA’s data sheet sets a 1.5 gallon per 100 sq ft minimum for 924, about 24 wet mils.
  1. Confirm the roof is dry. The 924 PDS requires a surface free of moisture both on and beneath it, and TRP’s 10-year system spec says all warranties require wet substrate components to be replaced, with a moisture scan recommended.
  2. Clean. Wash with 652 ULTRAGREEN ROOF WASH at up to 1:10 for heavy soil or 1:10 to 1:30 for medium soil; the brochure rates 1 gallon of concentrate at 5,000 sq ft. Do not pressure wash asphaltic roofs, per brochure note 2.
  3. Repair details. Seal seams, fasteners and punctures with Rx ROOF REPAIR (1 hour between layers, about 2 hours to tack-free at 70°F and 50% humidity, 24 hours to full cure) or 9400 ETERNA-SIL PREMIUM MASTIC at 85 to 125 LF per gallon at 4 in wide.
  4. Run an adhesion test. A City of Hialeah spec for a 924 10-year system calls for a 12 in by 12 in test patch before full application.
  5. Prime where required. Apply 996 ASPHALT BLEED BLOCKER at 1.0 to 2.0 gal per 100 sq ft over APP, SBS, smooth BUR and cap sheets; use 997 primer at 1.0 gal per 100 sq ft over rusted metal.
  6. Check the weather window. Surface and air at 40°F or warmer, no rain forecast during application or for 1 hour after, and pails stored between 50°F and 80°F.
  7. Apply 924. Mix thoroughly, do not thin, and spray with high-pressure airless equipment, or squeegee, brush or roll. The brochure allows a single pass of up to 2.5 gal per 100 sq ft.
  8. Verify thickness. Use a wet-mil gauge: about 24 wet mils for 1.5 gal per 100 sq ft and about 40 wet mils for 2.5 gal. Add 15% to 40% material for metal rib profiles.
  9. Add walkways. Lay 941 ELASTOMERIC SAFETY WALKWAY COATING at 4 gal per square, or 924 Safety Yellow broadcast with granules at 50 lb per square; one 5-gal pail makes a 2 ft by 65 ft path.
  10. Register and log. Register the job for C100 coverage and keep the two inspections per year that Form 901 asks owners to document.

Steps 4 and 5 are where most coating failures start, and the Hialeah specification and SOPREMA brochure both put the primer decision after the test patch, not before it. For a roof with leaks you need to stop today, see our roof leak repair products guide.

Which Tropical Roofing Products coating should you pick?

Match the product to the substrate and drainage first: water standing 48 hours or more points to silicone, and any asphalt surface adds a 996 primer coat at 1.0 to 2.0 gal per 100 sq ft. The thresholds below come from the SOPREMA data sheets, brochure and NOAs cited above.

If your roof is… Pick Why (source)
Low-slope with water that sits 48 hours or more, occupied building 924 ETERNA-SIL PREMIUM Ponding resistant, 50 g/L VOC, 96% solids (924 PDS)
Low-slope with ponding, movement at joints is the concern 923 ETERNA-SIL 420% elongation, but 250 g/L VOC and 70% solids; check your air district’s VOC limit (923 PDS)
Metal or SPF that drains well, lowest material cost 901 or 911 acrylic 901 PDS says not for ponding areas; 3.0 gal per 100 sq ft for 10 years (brochure)
In California and needs a CRRC-listed white acrylic 921 REFLEX Brochure lists it as CRRC listed and Title 24 compliant
Smooth BUR, APP, SBS or mineral cap sheet 996 then white 924 Bleed blocker required and only white over asphalt (brochure notes 4 and 6)
Asphalt shingle, tile, slate, wood shake or metal shingle None of these coatings NOA 25-0917.16 limitation 4 bars them on these roofs
A small leak on a wet or damp surface Rx ROOF REPAIR Adheres to wet and dry substrates; remove standing water first (Rx PDS)
Metal roof that needs a color match 924 premium color 9 colors, 90-gal minimum, 3 to 4 week lead time (color chart)
Owner wants labor covered for 10 to 20 years Authorized SOPREMA contractor, C100 RC115 pays product only, capped at the invoice price

If cores show wet insulation, TRP’s 10-year 924 system spec requires replacing those wet components before any warranty, which can turn a coating job into a partial tear-off. Our roof coating vs replacement guide sets out that threshold, and our SOPREMA roofing review covers the membrane systems sold under the same parent brand.

Frequently asked questions

What happened to Tropical Roofing Products?

SOPREMA acquired Tropical Roofing Products (TRP) in 2022, announced on October 16, 2025 that the line would move to the SOPREMA brand, and reported the integration complete in January 2026. Products keep their numbers, such as 924 and Rx ROOF REPAIR, but part numbers changed from TRO- to SOP- and pails now carry SOPREMA branding.

Is Tropical Roofing Products 924 the same as SOPREMA 924?

Yes. SOPREMA’s conversion chart maps TRO-924-5 to SOP-924-5, and SOPREMA says product performance did not change. Miami-Dade NOA 25-0917.16 also lists 924 ETERNA-SIL PREMIUM ROOF COATING and ALSAN COATING SIL 402 together as solvent-free, high-solids silicone coatings under one approval.

What is the warranty period for Tropical 924 silicone roof coating?

The product alone carries SOPREMA’s RC115 limited warranty for 10 years from purchase, paying replacement product or a refund capped at the invoice price. Labor and material coverage requires an authorized SOPREMA contractor under Form C100, with 10, 15 or 20 year builds of 1.5, 2.0 or 2.5 gallons of 924 per 100 sq ft.

How much does a 5 gallon bucket of silicone roof coating cover?

A 5-gallon pail of SOPREMA 924 covers 333 sq ft at its 1.5 gallons per 100 sq ft minimum, about 23 dry mils. At the 20-year build of 2.5 gallons per 100 sq ft, the same pail covers 200 sq ft. Solvent-based 923 covers 263 sq ft per pail at its 1.9 gallon minimum.

What is the average cost of spray coating a roof?

HomeGuide lists silicone roof coating at $1.50 to $4.50 per sq ft installed, and Angi (August 2026) gives $0.65 to $5 per sq ft for roof coatings overall. Materials alone for a 20-year 924 build on a 2,000 sq ft asphalt roof come to about $1.80 per sq ft at October 2026 retail pail prices.

What type of roof material is best for tropical climates?

In South Florida’s High Velocity Hurricane Zone, the roof covering itself needs a product approval, and coatings such as 924 are approved only as maintenance layers, not as roof systems, under Miami-Dade NOA 25-0917.16. On existing low-slope roofs that hold water, a 100% silicone meeting ASTM D6694 tolerates ponding better than acrylic.

What is the best roof waterproofing coating?

For a low-slope roof that ponds, a high-solids 100% silicone such as SOPREMA 924 (96% solids) or GacoFlex S20 (95% solids) is the usual fit. For a roof that drains well, an acrylic such as SOPREMA 901 costs less per gallon but its data sheet bars it from ponding areas.

Is Henry Tropi-Cool made by Tropical Roofing Products?

No. Henry 887 Tropi-Cool is made by Henry Company of El Segundo, California and sold at Home Depot for $369.00 per 4.75 gallons in October 2026. Tropical Roofing Products is the former Hallandale, Florida coatings maker now sold under the SOPREMA name, best known for 924 ETERNA-SIL.

Where is Tropical Roofing Products located?

Tropical Roofing Products is based in Hallandale, Florida 33009, at 1818 SW 31 Ave on Miami-Dade NOA 25-0917.16 and 1904 SW 31 Ave on NOA 25-0822.09. The same NOAs list plants in La Mirada, California, Schoolcraft, Michigan and Kansas City, Missouri. Orders go to 1-800-535-6947.

Can Tropical 924 go on a shingle roof or an RV?

Not on shingles in Miami-Dade jurisdiction: NOA 25-0917.16 bars the Eterna-Sil coatings over asphalt shingles, tile, slate, wood shakes and metal shingles. SOPREMA lists metal, concrete, SPF, single-ply, BUR and modified bitumen as 924 substrates, and RV roofs are not on that list.
