Short answer: As of September 2026, the five highest-scoring roofing contractors in the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, FL metro on The Roofing Brief Contractor Score are Schick Roofing (98.0), BFARR Contracting (96.0), Next Level Roofers, Inc. (94.7), CFL Roofing, Inc. (94.4), Sheegog Contracting (91.8). Each is certified by a manufacturer whose register we checked by hand, each rating has been tested against a source outside that register, and nobody bought a place on this page.
The Roofing Brief scored 9 certified roofing contractors serving the Orlando metro on a published, reproducible formula, then researched each of the top five individually to confirm its record. Orlando sits inland, which changes its storm profile from Tampa’s. It takes more hail than the Gulf coast, 108 damaging reports in the past decade, but less direct hurricane wind. The relevant failure mode here is a hurricane crossing the peninsula with weakened but still destructive winds, combined with intense UV and afternoon convective storms. Florida also requires a Certified or Registered Roofing Contractor licence specifically. A general contractor licence does not cover roofing, and the Department of Business and Professional Regulation publishes full disciplinary history for every licensee, so verification takes about a minute.
The conditions an Orlando roof has to be specified for
Central Florida gets more hail than its reputation suggests. Orlando’s metro logged 127 hail reports over the decade, 108 of them an inch or larger and 13 at two inches or more, including 3-inch stones around Sanford and Lake Mary on 21 May 2020, which tied the largest hail on record for the National Weather Service’s east central Florida area. Add 140 severe wind reports and 26 tornadoes, including an EF2 near Forest City in March 2025, and the inland roof risk here is convective rather than coastal.
Hurricanes still reach this far inland. Hurricane Ian crossed central Florida in September 2022 with gusts near 100 mph in Orange County, and roof repairs from it ran on for years afterwards. That is the argument for treating the mitigation requirements as useful rather than bureaucratic: Florida Statute 553.844 requires a secondary water barrier when a site-built home’s roof is replaced, and, where the thresholds are met, improved roof-to-wall connections. Both are hidden once the covering is on, so photograph them during installation.
Permitting is split by address, and the split catches people out. Property inside the Orlando city limits permits through the city’s building department, while the large share of Orlando-postcode addresses in unincorporated Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Lake counties permits through the county. Roof replacements, and repairs above the code threshold within a twelve-month period, require a permit either way. Ask which authority is issuing yours, and get the permit number.
Senate Bill 4-D, signed in May 2022, is the rule that saves money on a newer house: if the existing roof was built or replaced under the 2007 Florida Building Code or later, repairing a quarter or more of it no longer forces a complete replacement. Your permit history is the proof, and it is public. Before agreeing to a full replacement after storm damage, pull that record, and remember that under Senate Bill 2-A an insurer cannot refuse cover on roof age alone if an inspection shows at least five years of useful life left.

1. Schick Roofing — TRB Score 98.0

Certifications held: President’s Club (GAF), Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, TAMKO MasterCraft Pro Certified. Certification by more than one manufacturer is uncommon and requires meeting each programme’s separate standards for insurance, training and track record.

- 5.0 across 279 Google reviews and 5.0 on Yelp, 4.9 across 419 total reviews. Reviews
What they actually do. Residential and commercial roofing plus solar across metro Orlando.
Why it ranks here. Triple-certified across GAF, Owens Corning and TAMKO, and holds three separate Florida licences including a Certified Solar Contractor licence, which very few roofers carry. Seventeen years of BBB accreditation with no complaints on record is the cleanest regulatory record in the Orlando pool.
Best fit for: Solar-integrated roofing, and homeowners who want a spotless complaint record.
Verify the certification yourself on the GAF registry listing. The number carried on that listing is (407) 749-0808, which is the registry’s contact line and is often a directory tracking number rather than the contractor’s own: take the number from the company’s own website and compare the two.
2. BFARR Contracting — TRB Score 96.0
BFARR Contracting is based in Winter Park, FL, in business since 2016, BBB accredited, A+ rating, and holds President’s Club standing on the GAF certification registry.

- 527 reviews, averaging 4.9 across Google, Yelp and BBB combined. Birdeye
What they actually do. Residential and commercial roofing across asphalt shingle, tile, metal and single-ply membrane. Veteran owned, serving Central Florida since 2016.
Why it ranks here. Holds both Certified Building Contractor and Certified Roofing Contractor licences, so structural repair uncovered during a tear-off can be completed by the same firm. Veteran owned, and the 4.9 average holds across three separate platforms rather than resting on one.
Best fit for: Homeowners wanting one licensed firm able to handle both the roof and any structural damage beneath it.
Verify the certification yourself on the GAF registry listing. The number carried on that listing is (321) 475-1438, which is the registry’s contact line and is often a directory tracking number rather than the contractor’s own: take the number from the company’s own website and compare the two.
3. Next Level Roofers, Inc. — TRB Score 94.7

- 4.9 across 331 Google reviews. Google
What they actually do. Roofing contracting and repair across metro Orlando, with 39 years of combined team experience.
Why it ranks here. An A+ BBB rating with no complaints on record, alongside two separate Florida roofing licence numbers. Reviews consistently describe honest pricing rather than upselling, which in a market full of storm-driven replacement pressure is worth something.
Best fit for: Homeowners who suspect they are being pushed toward replacement when repair would do.
What we would want clarified. The Yelp rating of 4.2 sits below the Google figure, though it rests on only five reviews. We publish this because a ranking that only prints the flattering findings is an advertisement, not an assessment.
Verify the certification yourself on the GAF registry listing. The number carried on that listing is (407) 237-7960, which is the registry’s contact line and is often a directory tracking number rather than the contractor’s own: take the number from the company’s own website and compare the two.
4. CFL Roofing, Inc. — TRB Score 94.4
CFL Roofing, Inc. is based in Orlando, FL, BBB accredited since 27 March 2017, A+ rating, and holds President’s Club standing on the GAF certification registry.

- BuildZoom score 104, in the top 9% of 191,428 licensed Florida contractors. BuildZoom
- Rated 5.0 on both HomeAdvisor and Angi. Cross-platform reviews
What they actually do. Family owned residential and commercial roofing across Orange County and metro Orlando.
Why it ranks here. Holds a Roofing Unlimited classification plus seventeen further municipal licences, meaning it is cleared to work across essentially every jurisdiction in the metro. Perfect 5.0 ratings on both HomeAdvisor and Angi simultaneously, which draw on different customer pools.
Best fit for: Homeowners in outlying municipalities where many contractors are not licensed to work.
Verify the certification yourself on the GAF registry listing. The number carried on that listing is (407) 917-7663, which is the registry’s contact line and is often a directory tracking number rather than the contractor’s own: take the number from the company’s own website and compare the two.
5. Sheegog Contracting — TRB Score 91.8
Sheegog Contracting is based in Winter Park, FL, BBB accredited since 18 September 2018, A+ rating, and holds President’s Club standing on the GAF certification registry.
| Score component | Points | Max |
|---|---|---|
| Certification tier | 35 | 35 |

- Certified Roofing Contractor licence CCC1330716 and Certified General Contractor licence CGC1515181. Florida DBPR
- Best of Florida 2023 recognition alongside GAF awards. Recognition
What they actually do. Asphalt shingle, flat and metal roofing, gutters, solar and storm damage restoration.
Why it ranks here. Dual-licensed for roofing and general contracting, with a 4.9 average across Google, Yelp and BBB combined.
Best fit for: Seminole County homeowners and mixed-material roofs.
What we would want clarified. BBB complaints are on file. One describes poor workmanship and unresponsive communication after payment, with the customer engaging other firms to correct the work. Hold a meaningful retention until you have inspected the completed job. We publish this because a ranking that only prints the flattering findings is an advertisement, not an assessment.
Verify the certification yourself on the GAF registry listing. The number carried on that listing is (407) 637-5339, which is the registry’s contact line and is often a directory tracking number rather than the contractor’s own: take the number from the company’s own website and compare the two.
What 3.0 inch hail does to an Orlando roof
Aggregate hail counts tell you very little about a specific roof. These are the individual events: every severe-weather report logged by the National Weather Service across the 4 counties of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, FL statistical area over ten years, with the dates, the stone sizes and the towns they landed on. Over that decade the metro logged 127 hail reports, 140 severe thunderstorm and high wind reports and 26 tornadoes. Reported property damage from hail, severe wind and tornado over that decade totalled $7.6 million; flood and winter-storm losses are counted separately and are not included.

The biggest hail to fall on Orlando in a decade
| Date | Stone size | Reported near | County |
|---|---|---|---|
| 21 May 2020 | 3.0 in | New Upsala | Seminole |
| 25 April 2023 | 2.75 in | Mascotte | Lake |
| 25 April 2023 | 2.75 in | Lake Louisa | Lake |
| 21 May 2020 | 2.5 in | Sipes | Seminole |
| 11 April 2021 | 2.0 in | Gabriella | Seminole |
| 11 April 2021 | 2.0 in | Gabriella | Seminole |
The largest stone on record for this metro fell on 21 May 2020 near New Upsala, measured at 3.0 inches. That is baseball sized, comfortably past the point where a roof is written off rather than repaired.
Wind. The strongest thunderstorm gust logged in the metro was 83 knots, about 96 mph, near Mascotte on 24 January 2019. Asphalt shingles begin lifting at roughly 67 mph when they are correctly nailed, and considerably below that when they are not.
Tornadoes. 26 tornadoes touched down in these counties over the decade, the strongest rated EF2 near Forest City on 10 March 2025.
What the National Weather Service wrote about it
The NWS logs a written account of each severe-weather episode. This is its description of the 24 January 2019 event near Mascotte, reproduced verbatim:
A NWS storm survey confirmed a very intense straight-line wind event occurred in Mascotte-Groveland, as a portion of a strong squall line (bow echo) accelerated east to northeast across southern Lake County. Peak winds were estimated between 75 and 95 mph, along a 1.5 mile swath, with a damage width of 350 yards. The area of damaging winds began in extreme east-central Sumter County and continued northeast into Lake County, crossing Tuscanooga Road near Honeycut Road. Preliminary damage estimates in Lake County indicate five homes and a church were damaged, with one of the homes being destroyed. Numerous trees were snapped and some were also uprooted.
That account is the design case for a roof here, and it comes from the agency that recorded it rather than by a contractor selling the repair.
When it happens. Severe weather reports cluster in May (68), June (51), April (45). The worst years on record were 2020 (51), 2023 (39), 2019 (31). If you are scheduling non-urgent work in Orlando, the months outside that window are when crews are least stretched and least likely to be triaging emergency callouts ahead of your job.

What to do with this. Orlando sees enough damaging hail that a Class 4 impact-rated shingle is worth pricing, though not automatically worth buying. Get both quotes and weigh the premium against any insurance discount.
Before you sign anything in Orlando
Licensing is required in FL. Florida requires a roofing contractor licence to install, repair, or replace any roofing system. A Certified Roofing Contractor licence is issued by the state and valid statewide; a Registered Roofing Contractor licence is issued locally and valid only in the issuing county or municipality.
A general contractor licence does not cover roofing in Florida. The licence must specifically read Certified Roofing Contractor or Registered Roofing Contractor.
Check here: Florida DBPR licence search. The DBPR record shows status, expiry and full disciplinary history. Anything other than Current, Active means the contractor cannot legally roof in Florida.
Four checks to run before you sign anything, in any state.
- Verify certification at the source. Use the GAF verification tool rather than trusting a badge image on a company website.
- Get the certificate of insurance from the insurer, not the contractor, and confirm general liability and workers compensation are both active on the day work starts.
- Confirm who pulls the permit. If a contractor asks you to pull it as the homeowner, that moves liability onto you. Decline.
- Get warranty terms in writing before any deposit, and check the manufacturer warranty being promised actually requires the certification tier the contractor holds.
What the rest of the Orlando field looks like

The pool carries 3,522 customer reviews between them at a mean rating of 4.844. How these Orlando rankings were produced
Every contractor in the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, FL pool was scored out of 100 on four published components: certification tier, a Bayesian adjusted rating, review depth and distance from the metro centre. In this metro that meant scoring 9 certified contractors, of whom 9 hold President’s Club standing and 0 Master Elite, against a metro mean rating of 4.844. The top five were then researched individually against Better Business Bureau records, state licence registers and manufacturer directories. Anything unflattering that research surfaced appears above alongside the rest, and no company bought its position.
The full method, the weightings, what the GAF certification tiers actually mean, who is eligible to be ranked and what we do not claim are all set out on our roofer ranking methodology page.
