Best Roofers in Brunswick, GA: 2 Certified Contractors, Scored and Verified

The two best roofers in Brunswick, GA, ranked on a published formula and verified individually against BBB, licence and manufacturer records. No paid placement.

Best Roofers in Brunswick, GA: 2 Certified Contractors, Scored and Verified

Short answer: As of October 2026, the two highest-scoring roofing contractors in the Brunswick-St. Simons, GA metro on The Roofing Brief Contractor Score are Dasch & Sons (68.3), Cutright Roofing (63.6). Every one holds a manufacturer certification that can be verified independently, every rating below has been corroborated against at least one source outside the certification registry, and no company paid to appear here.

The Roofing Brief scored 2 certified roofing contractors serving the Brunswick metro on a published, reproducible formula, then researched each of the top two individually to confirm its record. Brunswick and the Golden Isles are a tropical-storm coast where falling trees, not hail, take roofs: FEMA has declared four hurricane disasters for Glynn County since 2016, from Matthew to Helene’s 78 mph gust on Jekyll Island, though NOAA filed every one locally as a tropical storm. In January 2025 a rare winter storm closed the Sidney Lanier Bridge with falling ice. Georgia licenses no roofers, and two certified firms serve the metro.

Quick picks for Brunswick:

  • Dasch & Sons: best overall (TRB Score 68.3). Verified services: roof replacement, roof repair, commercial roofing, metal roofing, siding, windows.
  • Cutright Roofing: best for St. Simons Island (TRB Score 63.6). Verified services: roof replacement, roof repair, storm damage work, metal roofing, commercial roofing.

What a Brunswick roof is up against

Georgia has no roofing licence: roofers are specialty contractors exempt from the state’s residential and general contractor licensing, and may do other licensed-type work only where it is incidental to the roofing and worth no more than $10,000 or a quarter of the contract. Glynn County points homeowners to the state’s licence database, but a roofer will usually not appear there unless it holds a voluntary licence.

If an insurance-funded roof claim is denied in whole or part, Georgia lets you cancel the roofing contract before midnight on the fifth business day after the insurer’s written notice. The roofer must give you a bold cancellation notice, may not take payment before then except for emergency work, and may not represent or negotiate your claim. Separately, anyone who advertises or promises to pay or rebate your deductible commits a misdemeanour.

Glynn County enforces the 2024 International Residential Code as amended by Georgia. Its fee schedule has no separate reroof line; unlisted work is charged at 0.4 percent of declared value, about $60 on a $15,000 job. Federal manufactured-home rules put Glynn and McIntosh counties in HUD Wind Zone II, with a 100 mph design speed.

The metro’s housing is mixed: Glynn County’s is relatively young and only 9.7 percent mobile homes, but mobile homes make up 51.0 percent of housing units in Brantley County and 35.4 percent in McIntosh, the stock most exposed when storms arrive. Across the metro 28.3 percent of homes are rented.

1. Dasch & Sons: best overall (TRB Score 68.3)

Dasch & Sons is based in Brunswick, GA, led by Justin Dasch, owner, Not accredited, A+ rating, no complaints in three years, and holds Certified standing on the GAF certification registry.

  • Trades as Dasch & Son’s Construction; says roofing is more than 60 percent of its business, alongside carpentry, masonry, windows and general repairs, residential and commercial.. Company website

What they actually do. Residential and commercial reroofs and repairs, metal roofing, siding and general carpentry.

Services we could verify: roof replacement, roof repair, commercial roofing, metal roofing, siding, windows.

Why it ranks here. The top-scoring firm, based in Brunswick with 26 GAF reviews averaging 4.8 that describe roofing and siding work by the same owner. Roofing is the majority of its work by its own account, but it also takes on general construction.

Best fit for: Brunswick homeowners who want a local owner-run firm that can handle roofing alongside carpentry or siding repairs after a storm.

What we would want clarified. It is roofing-first rather than roofing-only, it is not BBB accredited, and BBB lists no start date or service area for it. We publish this because a ranking that only prints the flattering findings is an advertisement, not an assessment.

Verify the certification yourself on the GAF registry listing. The number carried on that listing is (912) 267-4258, which is the registry’s contact line and is often a directory tracking number rather than the contractor’s own: take the number from the company’s own website and compare the two.

2. Cutright Roofing: best for St. Simons Island (TRB Score 63.6)

Cutright Roofing is based in St Simons Island, GA, BBB accredited since 9 March 2026, A+ rating, no complaints, and holds Certified standing on the GAF certification registry.

  • Residential and commercial roofing in metal and shingle for St. Simons Island, Brunswick and Townsend, with ten-year warranties.. Company website

What they actually do. Asphalt shingle and metal reroofs, repairs and storm damage, and commercial roofing.

Services we could verify: roof replacement, roof repair, storm damage work, metal roofing, commercial roofing.

Why it ranks here. The only certified firm based on St. Simons Island, with 21 GAF reviews averaging 4.6 and a published service area covering all three metro counties. GAF’s own page shows it at the Certified Plus level.

Best fit for: St. Simons Island, Brunswick and McIntosh County homeowners who want an island-based roofer for shingle or metal.

What we would want clarified. BBB accreditation dates only from March 2026, we could not confirm its owner, one GAF review alleges subcontracted work and yard damage, and its site says it works with insurers directly, while Georgia bars roofers from negotiating claims for homeowners. We publish this because a ranking that only prints the flattering findings is an advertisement, not an assessment.

Roof replacement and repair in Brunswick, GA

Short answer: For a Brunswick roof, Dasch & Sons is a local owner-run firm doing reroofs, repairs and metal roofing that can also handle carpentry or siding after a storm, and Cutright Roofing is the only certified firm based on St. Simons Island, for shingle or metal. The rule that matters most: if an insurance-funded roof claim is denied in whole or part, Georgia lets you cancel the roofing contract within five business days.

Brunswick and the Golden Isles are a tropical-storm coast where falling trees, not hail, take roofs. FEMA has declared four hurricane disasters for Glynn County since 2016, from Matthew, when Jekyll Island recorded a 64 mph gust and trees fell on homes, to Helene, when a Jekyll Island station measured 78 mph and uprooted trees damaged homes. Idalia’s outer bands spawned three tornadoes in Glynn County on 30 August 2023, one an EF1 across Brunswick. By contrast the three counties logged only 16 hail reports in ten years, none above 1.75 inches, and a January 2025 winter storm left 2.9 inches of snow on St. Simons Island.

Glynn County enforces the 2024 International Residential Code as amended by Georgia, and its fee schedule has no separate reroof line: unlisted work is charged at 0.4 percent of declared value, about $60 on a $15,000 job. Georgia has no statewide 25 percent roof rule. A roof replacement means removing all existing layers down to the deck, with narrow exceptions for an adhered ice barrier or self-adhered underlayment, and a recover is not allowed over a water-soaked or deteriorated roof, over slate or tile, or where two or more layers already exist. Ask about high-wind shingle ratings and nailing, and trim overhanging limbs before storm season.

Georgia has no roofing licence, so the contract rules do the protecting. If an insurance-funded claim is denied in whole or part, you may cancel before midnight on the fifth business day after the insurer’s written notice; the roofer must give you a bold cancellation notice, may not take payment before then except for emergency work, and may not represent or negotiate your claim. Anyone who advertises or promises to pay or rebate your deductible commits a misdemeanour. Georgia’s property claim standards contain no matching requirement. Because the state exempts roofers, check the county or municipal business licence where the work will happen.

Dasch & Sons does residential and commercial reroofs and repairs, metal roofing, siding and carpentry, with roofing more than 60 percent of its business, which suits a storm repair that needs carpentry or siding work as well as roofing. Cutright Roofing covers asphalt shingle and metal reroofs, repairs, storm damage and commercial roofing across Glynn, McIntosh, Camden and Brantley counties, though its BBB accreditation dates only from March 2026. Professional Roof Systems and R-Architectural Roofing & Cookson Enterprises, both in Brunswick with A+ BBB files and no complaints, are listed for comparison.

The 103 wind reports that shape a Brunswick roof

Aggregate hail counts tell you very little about a specific roof. These are the individual events: every severe-weather report logged by the National Weather Service across the 3 counties of the Brunswick-St. Simons, GA statistical area over ten years, with the dates, the stone sizes and the towns they landed on. Over that decade the metro logged 16 hail reports, 103 severe thunderstorm and high wind reports and 6 tornadoes. The database’s property-damage fields are left blank for most of these reports, so it carries no usable loss total for this metro and we do not quote one.

The biggest hail to fall on Brunswick in a decade

Date Stone size Reported near County
23 April 2020 1.75 in Hoboken Brantley
23 April 2020 1.75 in Waynesville Brantley
30 May 2017 1.75 in Pine Harbor Mcintosh
22 January 2017 1.0 in Brunswick Mckinnon F Glynn
23 April 2020 1.0 in Darien Mcintosh
23 April 2020 1.0 in Carnigan Mcintosh

The largest stone on record for this metro fell on 23 April 2020 near Hoboken, measured at 1.75 inches. That is ping-pong-ball sized, enough to bruise asphalt shingles and shorten a roof’s life without necessarily looking dramatic from the ground.

Wind. The strongest thunderstorm gust logged in the metro was 70 knots, about 81 mph, near Pyles Marsh on 2 December 2018. Asphalt shingles begin lifting at roughly 67 mph when they are correctly nailed, and considerably below that when they are not.

Tornadoes. 6 tornadoes touched down in these counties over the decade, the strongest rated EF2 near Nahunta on 9 March 2024.

What the National Weather Service wrote about it

The NWS logs a written account of each severe-weather episode. This is its description of the 8 August 2023 event near Nahunta, reproduced verbatim:

The University of Georgia Mesonet Site at the ZBLU Blueberry Farm south of US Highway 82 and west of US Highway 301 reported a 79 mph wind gust.

A roof in this metro is built against events like that one, as recorded by the agency that recorded it rather than by a contractor selling the repair.

When it happens. Severe weather reports cluster in April (40), June (21), May (19). The worst years on record were 2020 (25), 2023 (23), 2016 (15). If you are scheduling non-urgent work in Brunswick, the months outside that window are when crews are least stretched and least likely to be triaging emergency callouts ahead of your job.

Source: NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information, Storm Events Database, county-level detail files 2016 to 2025, filtered to the counties of this statistical area by The Roofing Brief. Damage figures are as reported to the NWS and undercount insured losses.

What to do with this. Hail is not the governing risk in Brunswick. Weight your decision toward wind rating, ventilation and flashing detail rather than paying extra for impact-rated shingles.

A tropical-storm coast where trees, not hail, take roofs

FEMA has issued four hurricane major disaster declarations with individual assistance for Glynn County since 2016: Matthew, Irma, Idalia and Helene. Yet NOAA files every Glynn, McIntosh and Brantley zone entry for those storms as a tropical storm, not a hurricane. The damage they did to roofs came mostly from trees brought down by sustained tropical-storm winds.

During Matthew on 7 October 2016 Jekyll Island recorded a 64 mph gust and St. Simons Island 62 mph, and the county’s 911 centre took reports of trees on homes on Jekyll Island. Irma in September 2017 drove the St. Simons Island pier gauge to a 6.90-foot crest, a level NOAA calls major flooding. Idalia’s outer bands spawned three tornadoes in Glynn County on 30 August 2023, one an EF1 across the south and west sides of Brunswick.

Helene brought the strongest gust: on 26 to 27 September 2024 a Jekyll Island station measured 78 mph and St. Simons Island 68 mph, uprooted trees damaged homes and cars, more than 36,000 customers lost power and gas station canopies collapsed in Brunswick. Inland, on 9 March 2024 a strong EF2 tornado near Nahunta in Brantley County flattened homes, threw a mobile home into the forest and removed a large section of roof from a house on Matthews Circle.

Winter can surprise too. On 21 to 22 January 2025 a rare winter storm left 2.9 inches of snow on St. Simons Island, cut power to 53 percent of Glynn County customers and closed the Sidney Lanier Bridge because ice was falling from its spans; in January 2018 half an inch of freezing rain coated Brunswick. By contrast the three counties logged only 16 hail reports in ten years, none above 1.75 inches.

For a Golden Isles roof that means specifying for wind and trees: ask about high-wind shingle ratings and nailing, trim overhanging limbs before storm season, and after a storm remember that Georgia gives you five business days to cancel if your claim is denied and bars roofers from negotiating it for you.

How to tell a Brunswick roofer’s claims from their record

There is no state roofing licence in GA. Georgia does not require a state roofing licence. The State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors treats roofers as an exempt specialty contractor, so no state licensure is needed for residential or commercial roofing work.

Some Georgia roofers voluntarily hold a Residential Basic Contractor, Residential Light Commercial or General Contractor licence, or join the Georgia Roofing Contractors Association, as a credibility signal. Without one, a roofer may take on other licensed work only where it is incidental to the roof and worth no more than $10,000 or 25 percent of the contract, whichever is greater (O.C.G.A. 43-41-17(f)). Under O.C.G.A. 10-1-393.12 a homeowner may cancel an insurance-funded roofing contract before midnight on the fifth business day after the insurer says in writing that all or part of the claim is not covered, the roofer may not demand payment in that window except for emergency work, and it may not negotiate the claim. Separately, O.C.G.A. 33-23-43(c)(4) makes it a misdemeanor for anyone to advertise or promise to pay or rebate any part of your insurance deductible, including a discount for displaying a yard sign (HB 423, 2012). Local city and county licensing requirements still apply.

That absence is the most important fact on this page. Where a state issues no credential, a manufacturer certification that can be revoked is the only quality signal a homeowner can actually check, which is why this ranking is built on certification rather than star ratings.

Check here: Georgia State Licensing Board. Because the state exempts roofers, check the county or municipal business licence where the work will happen, and lean harder on manufacturer certification.

For what a full replacement costs across Georgia, including state labor rates and permit rules, see our Georgia roof replacement cost guide.

Four checks to run before you sign anything, in any state.

  1. Verify certification at the source. Use the GAF verification tool rather than trusting a badge image on a company website.
  2. Get the certificate of insurance from the insurer, not the contractor, and confirm general liability and workers compensation are both active on the day work starts.
  3. Confirm who pulls the permit. If a contractor asks you to pull it as the homeowner, that moves liability onto you. Decline.
  4. Get warranty terms in writing before any deposit, and check the manufacturer warranty being promised actually requires the certification tier the contractor holds.

How deep the Brunswick certified market really is

2 certified roofing contractors serve the principal cities of the Brunswick-St. Simons, GA statistical area, of which 0 hold the top President’s Club tier. The pool carries 47 customer reviews between them at a mean rating of 4.8. How these Brunswick rankings were produced

Every contractor in the Brunswick-St. Simons, GA pool was scored out of 100 on four published components: certification tier, a Bayesian adjusted rating, review depth and distance from the metro centre. In this metro that meant scoring 2 certified contractors, of whom 0 hold President’s Club standing and 0 Master Elite, against a metro mean rating of 4.8. The top two were then researched individually against Better Business Bureau records, state licence registers and manufacturer directories. Where that research turned up something awkward it is on the page, and no placement was paid for.

Set aside in Brunswick. A contractor that would otherwise have scored into the top two was removed for the reason stated. The score is computed from public data, but where the research pass finds evidence undermining an input to that score, the score is set aside.

  • BKM Roofing Inc, which scored 65.1: Excluded on service area. A Florida-licensed roofer that moved its address to Kingsland in Camden County, outside the metro; its website names Brantley County but not Brunswick, St. Simons Island, Glynn or McIntosh, and its BBB service area names only Florida counties.

The full method, the weightings, what the GAF certification tiers actually mean, who is eligible to be ranked and what we do not claim are all set out on our roofer ranking methodology page. Common questions about roofers in Brunswick

Who is the best roofer in Brunswick, GA?

Dasch & Sons of Brunswick, GA scores highest in the Brunswick metro on The Roofing Brief Contractor Score, at 68.3 out of 100 as of October 2026. It holds Certified certification with a 4.8 rating across 26 reviews. Highest-scoring is not the same as best fit for your specific job, and the company behind it scores within 4.7 points.

What is the 25% rule for roofing in Georgia?

Georgia has no statewide 25 percent roof rule. Since January 1, 2026 the state minimum code for one and two family homes is the 2024 International Residential Code with Georgia amendments, which do not change the reroofing section, and nothing ties a repair to a percentage of the roof.

Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Brunswick?

Your city or county building department issues reroof permits. Glynn County enforces the 2024 International Residential Code as amended by Georgia, and its fee schedule has no separate reroof line: unlisted work is charged at 0.4 percent of declared value, about $60 on a $15,000 job.

Who does roof repair in Brunswick?

Dasch & Sons in Brunswick lists residential and commercial reroofs and repairs, and Cutright Roofing on St. Simons Island lists repairs and storm damage work for shingle and metal roofs.

Can I cancel a roofing contract in Georgia if my claim is denied?

Yes. If an insurance-funded roof claim is denied in whole or part, you may cancel before midnight on the fifth business day after the insurer’s written notice, and the roofer may not take payment before then except for emergency work.

How many certified roofing contractors serve Brunswick?

2 contractors on the GAF certification registry serve the principal cities of the Brunswick-St. Simons, GA statistical area as of October 2026, of which 0 hold President’s Club status.

How much damaging hail does Brunswick get?

The Brunswick-St. Simons, GA statistical area recorded 8 hail reports of 1 inch or larger and 0 of 2 inches or larger between 2016 and 2025 in the NOAA Storm Events Database. The largest hailstone reported measured 1.75 inches.

Did any contractor pay to appear on this list?

No. The Roofing Brief takes no placement fees, no lead fees and no affiliate commission from any roofing contractor. Ranking comes entirely from the published formula applied to public registry data, followed by an individual research pass on the top two.

What was the worst hailstorm in Brunswick in the last ten years?

The largest hailstone logged by the National Weather Service in the Brunswick-St. Simons, GA statistical area between 2016 and 2025 measured 1.75 inches, reported near Hoboken on 23 April 2020. That is ping-pong-ball sized, enough to bruise asphalt shingles and shorten a roof’s life without necessarily looking dramatic from the ground. Across the decade the metro recorded 16 hail reports. The database’s property-damage fields are left blank for most of these reports, so it carries no usable loss total for this metro and we do not quote one.

When is the worst time of year for roof damage in Brunswick?

Severe-weather reports in the Brunswick-St. Simons, GA statistical area cluster in April, June, May, on the NOAA record for 2016 to 2025. Outside those months local crews are not triaging storm damage, so lead times are shorter and scheduling is easier.

Do roofers need a licence in GA?

What should I check before hiring a roofer in Brunswick?

Because the state exempts roofers, check the county or municipal business licence where the work will happen, and lean harder on manufacturer certification.

A tropical-storm coast where trees, not hail, take roofs?

FEMA has issued four hurricane major disaster declarations with individual assistance for Glynn County since 2016: Matthew, Irma, Idalia and Helene. Yet NOAA files every Glynn, McIntosh and Brantley zone entry for those storms as a tropical storm, not a hurricane. The damage they did to roofs came mostly from trees brought down by sustained tropical-storm winds.

Is Brunswick a hard market to find a good roofer in?

Brunswick and the Golden Isles are a tropical-storm coast where falling trees, not hail, take roofs: FEMA has declared four hurricane disasters for Glynn County since 2016, from Matthew to Helene’s 78 mph gust on Jekyll Island, though NOAA filed every one locally as a tropical storm. In January 2025 a rare winter storm closed the Sidney Lanier Bridge with falling ice. Georgia licenses no roofers, and two certified firms serve the metro.

Is wind or hail the bigger risk to a roof in Brunswick?

Wind, by a wide margin. The Brunswick-St. Simons, GA statistical area logged 103 severe thunderstorm and high wind reports against 8 hail reports of an inch or more between 2016 and 2025. Wind damage shows up at the rake, ridge and edge rather than across the field of the roof, so the fastening schedule and edge detail matter more here than the impact rating of the shingle.

Why is BKM Roofing Inc not on this list?

Excluded on service area. A Florida-licensed roofer that moved its address to Kingsland in Camden County, outside the metro; its website names Brantley County but not Brunswick, St. Simons Island, Glynn or McIntosh, and its BBB service area names only Florida counties..
