Can you insulate over vermiculite instead of removing it?
In some cases yes, encapsulation or insulating over undisturbed vermiculite is a lower-cost alternative to full removal, but it should only be done by a contractor who knows the material is present and can work without disturbing it. Is vermiculite insulation still used today?
