Best Roofers in Hammond, LA: 5 Certified Contractors, Scored and Verified

The 5 best roofers in Hammond, LA, ranked on a published formula and verified individually against BBB, licence and manufacturer records. No paid placement.

Best Roofers in Hammond, LA: 5 Certified Contractors, Scored and Verified

Short answer: As of October 2026, the five highest-scoring roofing contractors in the Hammond, LA metro on The Roofing Brief Contractor Score are Rocket Roofing LLC (83.9), Hester Roofing & Construction (79.8), Ibos Roofing Company (60.0), Pride Roofing LLC (54.2), Scoggins Roofing (53.5). Each is certified by a manufacturer whose register we checked by hand, each rating has been tested against a source outside that register, and nobody bought a place on this page.

The Roofing Brief scored 5 certified roofing contractors serving the Hammond metro on a published, reproducible formula, then researched each of the top five individually to confirm its record. Hurricane Ida passed between Baton Rouge and Hammond in August 2021 with gusts above 100 mph reaching Interstate 12, and the Weather Service says many structures across Tangipahoa Parish lost at least part of their roof. NOAA puts Ida’s damage in the parish at $450 million, more than 400 times everything filed against the parish for hail, wind and tornadoes in a decade. Louisiana’s state board has also sanctioned a run of local roofers for unlicensed work. Six certified firms appear in the directory for the area; one publishes no service area here and is excluded, and five are ranked.

Quick picks for Hammond:

  • Rocket Roofing LLC: best overall (TRB Score 83.9). Verified services: metal roofing, slate and tile, flat and low-slope roofing, storm damage work, commercial roofing.
  • Hester Roofing & Construction: best for metal and low-slope roofs (TRB Score 79.8). Verified services: metal roofing, flat and low-slope roofing, commercial roofing, inspections and maintenance.
  • Ibos Roofing Company: longest-established local firm (TRB Score 60.0). Verified services: roof repair, commercial roofing, inspections and maintenance.
  • Pride Roofing LLC: longest BBB accreditation here (TRB Score 54.2). Verified services: roof repair, metal roofing, commercial roofing, inspections and maintenance.
  • Scoggins Roofing: best for eastern Tangipahoa homes (TRB Score 53.5). Verified services: commercial roofing, siding, gutters.

Hail, codes and what they cost a Hammond homeowner

Since 1 January 2026 anyone who bids, advertises or performs residential roofing work worth $7,500 or more in Louisiana must hold the Residential Roofing or Residential Construction classification from the State Licensing Board for Contractors. From 1 August 2026 that covers any residential building of up to four units, and residential licensees must carry at least $500,000 of liability insurance. The board’s violations list since 2019 includes at least six roofers from Hammond, Ponchatoula or Independence resolving unlicensed contracting cases, two of them in this ranking, so check the register before you sign.

Louisiana bars a roofer from interpreting your policy, acting as a public adjuster or advertising as an insurance claims specialist, and since 1 August 2026 any assignment of post-loss insurance benefits to a contractor is void. Paying, waiving or rebating your deductible without the insurer’s consent is an offence for both roofer and homeowner. The board can fine an unlicensed contractor up to 10 percent of the contract, and unlicensed work is a misdemeanour of up to $500 a day.

Every parish and town that issues permits must now permit and inspect a reroof of a one or two family house, and inspectors may accept geotagged photos. In unincorporated Tangipahoa Parish a renovation permit costs $20 up to $10,000 of value and $2 per $1,000 above that, and contractors must register with the parish for $100 a year. The City of Hammond charges $150 per contractor registration and takes permits through its online portal. The parish runs on the 2021 code editions with local amendments.

County-filed NOAA records for Tangipahoa Parish show 16 hail reports from 2016 to 2025, the largest 2.75 inches at Wilmer, 60 thunderstorm wind reports and 21 tornado records, two of them EF2, with $1.09 million of damage. An EF2 in February 2023 tore the roof off a store and badly damaged a church in the village of Tangipahoa. One home in five in the metro is a mobile home, and nearly half its homes were built since 2000. The state’s Fortify Homes Program offers grants toward a FORTIFIED roof on a homestead.

1. Rocket Roofing LLC: best overall (TRB Score 83.9)

Rocket Roofing LLC is based in Hammond, LA, in business since 2022, led by Rocky Purvis, owner, BBB accredited since 15 February 2024, A+ rating, no complaints, and holds Master Elite standing on the GAF certification registry.

Certifications held: Master Elite (GAF), FORTIFIED roofing (listed by BBB). Certification by more than one manufacturer is uncommon and requires meeting each programme’s separate standards for insurance, training and track record.

  • Active residential licence RL.06538 with the Residential Roofing classification, commercial licence CL.77694 in roofing and sheet metal and home improvement registration HI.566205, all under Rocky Purvis.. Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors register
  • Accredited since February 2024 with an A+ rating; business started 25 July 2022; owner Rocky Purvis; six employees; no complaints; service area led by Tangipahoa Parish, Hammond and Independence.. BBB business profile
  • No entry for Rocket Roofing LLC in hearings from January 2019 to June 2026.. LSLBC contractor violations list

What they actually do. Shingle, metal, tile and flat roofing; storm and insurance restoration; FORTIFIED roofs.

Services we could verify: metal roofing, slate and tile, flat and low-slope roofing, storm damage work, commercial roofing.

Why it ranks here. A Master Elite firm based in Hammond with 90 GAF reviews averaging a perfect 5.0. Its credentials are the cleanest in the pool: the new Residential Roofing classification and a commercial roofing licence, no board violations, and a BBB file with no complaints. BBB and its first state registration agree on a 2022 start.

Best fit for: Hammond homeowners who want a local firm with the state’s specific residential roofing credential and FORTIFIED experience.

What we would want clarified. It is young, founded in 2022, and its insurance certificates on the register run to 16 October 2026, so confirm they have been renewed. Do not confuse it with Rocket Restorations of Mandeville. We publish this because a ranking that only prints the flattering findings is an advertisement, not an assessment.

Verify the certification yourself on the GAF registry listing. The number carried on that listing is (985) 500-5669, which is the registry’s contact line and is often a directory tracking number rather than the contractor’s own: take the number from the company’s own website and compare the two.

2. Hester Roofing & Construction: best for metal and low-slope roofs (TRB Score 79.8)

Hester Roofing & Construction is based in Hammond, LA, in business since 2017, led by Gaye Hester, owner, BBB accredited since 19 July 2021, A+ rating, no complaints, and holds Master Elite standing on the GAF certification registry.

  • Accredited since July 2021 with an A+ rating; business started December 2017; owner Gaye Hester; eight employees; no complaints; service area Hammond.. BBB business profile

What they actually do. Residential and commercial roofing, metal roofing, roof coatings, shingles and maintenance programmes.

Services we could verify: metal roofing, flat and low-slope roofing, commercial roofing, inspections and maintenance.

Why it ranks here. A Hammond family firm on the I-12 service road with 117 GAF reviews averaging 4.8, Master Elite status and a clean BBB file. It is now fully licensed through Residential Construction and commercial roofing. In 2023 it settled a board case for contracting without a licence, from a period before it held a residential licence.

Best fit for: Hammond homeowners and businesses who want a local Master Elite firm that also handles metal and low-slope roofs.

What we would want clarified. It settled a 2023 board case for unlicensed contracting, and its residential licence dates only from December 2024. We publish this because a ranking that only prints the flattering findings is an advertisement, not an assessment.

Verify the certification yourself on the GAF registry listing. The number carried on that listing is (985) 415-3945, which is the registry’s contact line and is often a directory tracking number rather than the contractor’s own: take the number from the company’s own website and compare the two.

3. Ibos Roofing Company: longest-established local firm (TRB Score 60.0)

Ibos Roofing Company is based in Ponchatoula, LA, led by Jeff Ibos, president, BBB accredited since 27 June 2026, A+ rating, no complaints, and holds Certified standing on the GAF certification registry.

  • Accredited since June 2026 with an A+ rating; incorporated April 1978; president Jeffrey Ibos; ten employees; no complaints.. BBB business profile
  • Says Emile and Leah Ibos started a roofing and sheet metal company in Covington in 1945 and that J.B. Ibos and his son Jeff now run it from Ponchatoula; lists FORTIFIED certified installer.. Company website

What they actually do. Residential and commercial roofing, sheet metal, FORTIFIED roofs, inspections and leak repair.

Services we could verify: roof repair, commercial roofing, inspections and maintenance.

Why it ranks here. The oldest firm in the pool, now based in Ponchatoula inside the metro, with 34 GAF reviews averaging 4.7. It holds the Residential Roofing classification and a commercial roofing licence the board first issued in 1976. The family traces its roots to 1945 and BBB dates the company to 1978, so we do not give a single founding year. No board violations were found.

Best fit for: Ponchatoula and south Tangipahoa homeowners who want a long-established roofing and sheet metal firm with FORTIFIED experience.

What we would want clarified. It has the fewest GAF reviews in the ranking and its BBB accreditation dates only from June 2026. We publish this because a ranking that only prints the flattering findings is an advertisement, not an assessment.

Verify the certification yourself on the GAF registry listing. The number carried on that listing is (985) 892-2226, which is the registry’s contact line and is often a directory tracking number rather than the contractor’s own: take the number from the company’s own website and compare the two.

4. Pride Roofing LLC: longest BBB accreditation here (TRB Score 54.2)

Pride Roofing LLC is based in Hammond, LA, in business since 2016, led by Michael Fereday, co-owner, BBB accredited since 15 March 2018, A+ rating, no complaints, and holds Certified standing on the GAF certification registry.

  • Accredited since March 2018 with an A+ rating; incorporated October 2016; co-owner Michael Fereday; ten employees; no complaints; service area Hammond.. BBB business profile

What they actually do. Residential and metal roofs, commercial roofs, repairs, maintenance and new construction roofing.

Services we could verify: roof repair, metal roofing, commercial roofing, inspections and maintenance.

Why it ranks here. A Hammond firm on East Coleman Avenue with 62 GAF reviews averaging 4.3, the lowest in the pool, and BBB accreditation since 2018 with no complaints. It is licensed for residential and commercial work. In March 2026 it accepted a board citation for bidding or working without the proper licence. Its published service area starts with Hammond and Tangipahoa but runs to Lafayette and the Mississippi coast.

Best fit for: Hammond homeowners who want a local firm with a long BBB accreditation that also does metal and commercial roofs.

What we would want clarified. It accepted a board citation in March 2026 for working without the proper licence, and it has the lowest GAF rating here; its site says it will work with your insurer, but Louisiana bars roofers from interpreting coverage or adjusting claims. We publish this because a ranking that only prints the flattering findings is an advertisement, not an assessment.

Verify the certification yourself on the GAF registry listing. The number carried on that listing is (855) 774-3316, which is the registry’s contact line and is often a directory tracking number rather than the contractor’s own: take the number from the company’s own website and compare the two.

5. Scoggins Roofing: best for eastern Tangipahoa homes (TRB Score 53.5)

Scoggins Roofing is based in Covington, LA, in business since 2025, led by Marty Scoggins, qualifying party, BBB accredited since 27 June 2025, A- rating, no complaints, and holds Certified standing on the GAF certification registry.

Certifications held: Certified (GAF), CertainTeed ShingleMaster (company claim). Certification by more than one manufacturer is uncommon and requires meeting each programme’s separate standards for insurance, training and track record.

  • Says the team previously traded as Suburban Roofing before rebranding under the family name and claims more than 25 years of experience.. Company website

What they actually do. Residential and commercial roofing, FORTIFIED roofs, siding and gutters.

Services we could verify: commercial roofing, siding, gutters.

Why it ranks here. A Covington firm about 21 miles from Hammond whose BBB service area names Tangipahoa Parish, with 64 GAF reviews averaging 4.5. The company itself dates from May 2025, though the family claims a quarter century in the trade, and it holds the Residential Roofing classification. No board violations were found.

Best fit for: Eastern Tangipahoa homeowners near the St. Tammany line who want a firm with the residential roofing credential.

What we would want clarified. The company is barely a year old, based outside the metro, and we could not establish its link to the Suburban Roofing name it cites. We publish this because a ranking that only prints the flattering findings is an advertisement, not an assessment.

Verify the certification yourself on the GAF registry listing. The number carried on that listing is (985) 888-1053, which is the registry’s contact line and is often a directory tracking number rather than the contractor’s own: take the number from the company’s own website and compare the two.

Roof replacement and repair in Hammond, LA

Short answer: In Hammond, Rocket Roofing LLC is our best overall pick, Hester Roofing & Construction suits metal and low-slope roofs, Ibos Roofing Company of Ponchatoula does leak repair and sheet metal, and Pride Roofing LLC and Scoggins Roofing complete the ranking. The rule that matters most: since 1 January 2026 anyone bidding residential roofing work worth $7,500 or more in Louisiana must hold the Residential Roofing or Residential Construction classification.

Hurricane Ida shows what wind can do to roofs here. On 30 August 2021 its centre passed between Baton Rouge and Hammond, gusts above 100 mph reached Interstate 12, and the Weather Service recorded minor to moderate roof or fascia damage on many structures across Tangipahoa Parish and major damage from roof failure or falling trees on numerous buildings. Smaller storms are also on file: county-filed NOAA records for the parish show 16 hail reports from 2016 to 2025, the largest 2.75 inches at Wilmer, 60 thunderstorm wind reports and 21 tornado records, two of them EF2, including the February 2023 storm that tore the roof off a store in the village of Tangipahoa.

Every parish and town that issues permits must now permit and inspect a reroof of a one or two family house, and inspectors may accept geotagged photos. In unincorporated Tangipahoa Parish a renovation permit costs $20 up to $10,000 of value and $2 per $1,000 above that, and contractors register with the parish for $100 a year; the City of Hammond charges $150 per contractor registration and takes permits through its online portal. The parish runs on the 2021 code editions with local amendments. Where the 2021 IRC applies, R908.3.1.1 bars a recover over a water-soaked or deteriorated roof, over slate, clay, cement or asbestos-cement tile, or over two or more existing layers.

Louisiana’s contract and insurance rules apply to both kinds of job. A roofer may not interpret your policy, act as a public adjuster or advertise as an insurance claims specialist, and since 1 August 2026 any assignment of post-loss insurance benefits to a contractor is void. Paying, waiving or rebating your deductible without the insurer’s consent is an offence for both roofer and homeowner. From 1 August 2026 residential licensees must carry at least $500,000 of liability insurance, and unlicensed work is a misdemeanour of up to $500 a day. The state’s Fortify Homes Program offers grants toward a FORTIFIED roof on a homestead.

Rocket Roofing LLC lists shingle, metal, tile and flat roofing, storm restoration and FORTIFIED roofs, and holds the Residential Roofing classification, though its insurance certificates on the register run to 16 October 2026. Hester Roofing & Construction covers metal roofing, roof coatings and maintenance programmes, and settled a 2023 board case for unlicensed contracting. Ibos Roofing Company lists inspections, leak repair and sheet metal with FORTIFIED experience. Pride Roofing LLC does repairs, maintenance, metal and commercial roofs, and accepted a March 2026 board citation. Scoggins Roofing of Covington adds FORTIFIED roofs, siding and gutters for homeowners near the St. Tammany line.

What 2.75 inch hail does to a Hammond roof

Aggregate hail counts tell you very little about a specific roof. These are the individual events: every severe-weather report logged by the National Weather Service across the 1 county of the Hammond, LA statistical area over ten years, with the dates, the stone sizes and the towns they landed on. Over that decade the metro logged 16 hail reports, 60 severe thunderstorm and high wind reports and 21 tornadoes. Reported property damage from hail, severe wind and tornado over that decade totalled $1.1 million; flood and winter-storm losses are counted separately and are not included.

The biggest hail to fall on Hammond in a decade

Date Stone size Reported near County
21 January 2016 2.75 in Wilmer Tangipahoa
21 January 2016 2.0 in Holton Tangipahoa
4 February 2024 1.75 in Tickfaw Tangipahoa
4 February 2024 1.75 in Tangipahoa Tangipahoa
21 January 2016 1.75 in Amite Tangipahoa
12 April 2020 1.25 in Hammond Tangipahoa

The largest stone on record for this metro fell on 21 January 2016 near Wilmer, measured at 2.75 inches. That is baseball sized, comfortably past the point where a roof is written off rather than repaired.

Wind. The strongest thunderstorm gust logged in the metro was 78 knots, about 90 mph, near Loranger on 28 April 2020. Asphalt shingles begin lifting at roughly 67 mph when they are correctly nailed, and considerably below that when they are not.

Tornadoes. 21 tornadoes touched down in these counties over the decade, the strongest rated EF2 near Strader on 7 February 2017.

What the National Weather Service wrote about it

The NWS logs a written account of each severe-weather episode. This is its description of the 18 April 2019 event near Roseland, reproduced verbatim:

A NWS storm survey showed a 5 mile long path of straight line thunderstorm wind damage north of Louisiana Highway 16 stretching from west to east. Multiple hardwood trees were blown down facing eastward about a mile north of Highway 16. No reports of injuries or fatalities.

That account is the design case for a roof here, and it comes from the agency that recorded it rather than by a contractor selling the repair.

When it happens. Severe weather reports cluster in April (18), March (16), June (15). The worst years on record were 2025 (27), 2024 (14), 2016 (11). If you are scheduling non-urgent work in Hammond, the months outside that window are when crews are least stretched and least likely to be triaging emergency callouts ahead of your job.

Source: NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information, Storm Events Database, county-level detail files 2016 to 2025, filtered to the counties of this statistical area by The Roofing Brief. Damage figures are as reported to the NWS and undercount insured losses.

What to do with this. Hail is not the governing risk in Hammond. Weight your decision toward wind rating, ventilation and flashing detail rather than paying extra for impact-rated shingles.

Hurricane Ida and the storm that is missing from the parish’s storm count

Early on 30 August 2021 Ida’s centre moved just west of LaPlace and then between Baton Rouge and Hammond, weakening to a tropical storm only before it crossed into Mississippi. The Weather Service’s Tangipahoa entry is plain: many structures throughout the parish suffered at least minor to moderate roof or fascia damage, numerous buildings suffered major damage from roof failure or falling trees, and most roads were impassable. Gusts above 100 mph reached as far inland as Interstate 12, the interstate that runs through Hammond.

NOAA records $100 million of Ida damage in the northern Tangipahoa zone, $300 million in the southern zone and $50 million more from storm surge, which reached 5 to 7 feet south of Highway 22. Against that, every hail, wind and tornado record filed for the parish from 2016 to 2025 adds up to $1.09 million. A county storm count misses Ida entirely, because NOAA files hurricanes by forecast zone, so any roofer quoting local storm numbers should be asked which records they mean.

Wind measurements inside Hammond are thin. The airport’s record for Ida is marked incomplete in the hurricane center’s report; a research tower 2.5 miles east of the city logged a 64 knot gust at just over 2 metres. Rain was the other story: Ponchatoula’s 15.04 inches was the highest storm total recorded anywhere for Ida, with flooding along the Tangipahoa, Tchefuncte and Tickfaw rivers.

Ida was not the only storm. Post-tropical Olga brought a 58 mph gust at the Hammond airport in October 2019 and trees down on homes in the city; Delta, Zeta and Francine followed between 2020 and 2024. On 8 February 2023 an EF2 of 115 mph hit the village of Tangipahoa, causing roof and wall failure at a convenience store, severe roof damage to a church and the destruction of several mobile homes.

Louisiana rewrote its rules after this run of storms. Since 2025 a reroof needs a permit and inspection, since January 2026 a roofer bidding $7,500 or more needs the residential roofing or residential construction classification, and since August 2026 a contractor cannot take an assignment of your insurance benefits. After the next storm, those rules are the quickest way to tell a local, licensed firm from a visitor.

What a Hammond homeowner should ask for in writing

Licensing is required in LA. Louisiana requires a roofing-specific licence classification. Under La. R.S. 37:2156.4(A), on and after 1 January 2026 any person who advertises, solicits, undertakes, offers or submits a price, bid, quote or estimate to construct, modify, repair or maintain any portion of a roofing system on a residential structure worth $7,500 or more must hold the classification of Residential Roofing or Residential Construction. Unusually for this trade, subsection B requires a residential roofing contractor to pass the residential roofing trade examination, so unlike Alabama or New Jersey this is a competency licence and not merely a registration.

Residential roofing is a subclassification of residential construction, and Act 757 of 2026, effective 1 August 2026, added subsection D extending the rule to any residential structure containing no more than four dwelling units. The penalties are real. Under R.S. 37:2163 it is unlawful to act as a contractor without an active licence, and a violation is a misdemeanour carrying a fine of up to $500 per day of violation, or three months in prison, or both. Where an unlicensed person causes harm or damage exceeding $300, the penalty rises to a fine of between $500 and $5,000, or imprisonment with or without hard labour for between six months and five years, or both. R.S. 37:2163(A)(2) separately makes it unlawful for any contractor, licensed or unlicensed, to publish or circulate a misleading or false claim about a person’s licence or classification in any medium, including digital platforms. Act 757 also set a $500,000 minimum liability insurance requirement for residential licensees from 1 August 2026 and made any assignment of post-loss insurance benefits to a contractor void. Most firms that already held Residential Construction, Building Construction or Commercial Roofing qualified without sitting the new roofing exam.

Check here: Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors. Check the classification itself on the board’s lookup, not just that a licence exists, because the statute names two classifications specifically. It is worth knowing that misrepresenting a licence or classification in advertising is itself unlawful in Louisiana under R.S. 37:2163(A)(2), so what a contractor claims about its credentials on its own website is a statement the state can act on.

Four checks to run before you sign anything, in any state.

  1. Verify certification at the source. Use the GAF verification tool rather than trusting a badge image on a company website.
  2. Get the certificate of insurance from the insurer, not the contractor, and confirm general liability and workers compensation are both active on the day work starts.
  3. Confirm who pulls the permit. If a contractor asks you to pull it as the homeowner, that moves liability onto you. Decline.
  4. Get warranty terms in writing before any deposit, and check the manufacturer warranty being promised actually requires the certification tier the contractor holds.

How these Hammond rankings were produced

Every contractor in the Hammond, LA pool was scored out of 100 on four published components: certification tier, a Bayesian adjusted rating, review depth and distance from the metro centre. In this metro that meant scoring 5 certified contractors, of whom 0 hold President’s Club standing and 2 Master Elite, against a metro mean rating of 4.7. The top five were then researched individually against Better Business Bureau records, state licence registers and manufacturer directories. Anything unflattering that research surfaced appears above alongside the rest, and no company bought its position.

Set aside in Hammond. A contractor that would otherwise have scored into the top five was removed for the reason stated. The score is computed from public data, but where the research pass finds evidence undermining an input to that score, the score is set aside.

  • Rocket Restorations, L.L.C., which scored 64.5: Excluded on service area. A licensed Mandeville roofer about 23 miles away whose BBB service area lists four St. Tammany and Jefferson Parish ZIP codes and whose website describes it as a local Mandeville team serving the Northshore and Southshore, with no mention of Hammond, Ponchatoula or Tangipahoa Parish. It is unrelated to Rocket Roofing LLC of Hammond, ranked here, although some testimonials on its site name the Hammond firm.

What Hammond homeowners want to know

Who is the best roofer in Hammond, LA?

Rocket Roofing LLC of Hammond, LA scores highest in the Hammond metro on The Roofing Brief Contractor Score, at 83.9 out of 100 as of October 2026. It holds Master Elite certification with a 5.0 rating across 90 reviews. Highest-scoring is not the same as best fit for your specific job, and the four companies behind it score within 30.4 points.

What is the 25% rule for roofing in Louisiana?

Louisiana has no statewide 25 percent roof rule. The state code adopts the 2021 International Residential Code, but makes enforcement mandatory only for new construction, reconstruction, additions and extensive alterations, so a routine reroof falls under your parish or city permit rules. Where the 2021 IRC is applied, R908.3 requires removing existing layers down to the deck for a replacement, with no percentage trigger, and Louisiana has no matching statute.

Who does roof repair in Hammond?

Ibos Roofing Company of Ponchatoula lists inspections and leak repair, and Pride Roofing LLC of Hammond lists repairs and maintenance. Hester Roofing & Construction runs maintenance programmes and roof coatings. Check that any firm bidding $7,500 or more holds the Residential Roofing or Residential Construction classification.

Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Hammond?

Yes. Every parish and town that issues permits must permit and inspect a reroof of a one or two family house, and inspectors may accept geotagged photos. Inside the City of Hammond permits go through the city’s online portal and contractors pay $150 to register; in unincorporated Tangipahoa Parish a renovation permit costs $20 up to $10,000 of value and $2 per $1,000 above that.

How do I know if a roofer in Hammond is good?

Look up the firm on the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors register and check the classification itself, not just that a licence exists. The board’s violations list since 2019 includes at least six roofers from Hammond, Ponchatoula or Independence resolving unlicensed contracting cases. Also confirm the firm’s insurance certificates are current, since residential licensees must carry at least $500,000 of liability insurance from 1 August 2026.

Can a Louisiana roofer handle my insurance claim?

Not as your representative.

How many certified roofing contractors serve Hammond?

How much damaging hail does Hammond get?

The Hammond, LA statistical area recorded 15 hail reports of 1 inch or larger and 2 of 2 inches or larger between 2016 and 2025 in the NOAA Storm Events Database. The largest hailstone reported measured 2.75 inches.

What was the worst hailstorm in Hammond in the last ten years?

The largest hailstone logged by the National Weather Service in the Hammond, LA statistical area between 2016 and 2025 measured 2.75 inches, reported near Wilmer on 21 January 2016. That is baseball sized, comfortably past the point where a roof is written off rather than repaired. Across the decade the metro recorded 16 hail reports. Reported property damage from hail, severe wind and tornado over that decade totalled $1.1 million; flood and winter-storm losses are counted separately and are not included.

When is the worst time of year for roof damage in Hammond?

Severe-weather reports in the Hammond, LA statistical area cluster in April, March, June, on the NOAA record for 2016 to 2025. Booking non-urgent roof work outside those months usually means shorter lead times, because local crews are not simultaneously triaging storm callouts.

Do roofers need a licence in LA?

Louisiana requires a roofing-specific licence classification. Under La. What should I check before hiring a roofer in Hammond?

Check the classification itself on the board’s lookup, not just that a licence exists, because the statute names two classifications specifically. Hurricane Ida and the storm that is missing from the parish’s storm count?

Early on 30 August 2021 Ida’s centre moved just west of LaPlace and then between Baton Rouge and Hammond, weakening to a tropical storm only before it crossed into Mississippi. The Weather Service’s Tangipahoa entry is plain: many structures throughout the parish suffered at least minor to moderate roof or fascia damage, numerous buildings suffered major damage from roof failure or falling trees, and most roads were impassable. Gusts above 100 mph reached as far inland as Interstate 12, the interstate that runs through Hammond.

Is Hammond a hard market to find a good roofer in?

Is wind or hail the bigger risk to a roof in Hammond?

Wind, by a wide margin. The Hammond, LA statistical area logged 60 severe thunderstorm and high wind reports against 15 hail reports of an inch or more between 2016 and 2025. Wind damage shows up at the rake, ridge and edge rather than across the field of the roof, so the fastening schedule and edge detail matter more here than the impact rating of the shingle.

Why is Rocket Restorations, L.L.C. not on this list?

Excluded on service area.
