Best Roofers in Baton Rouge, LA: 5 Certified Contractors, Scored and Verified

Short answer: As of September 2026, the five highest-scoring roofing contractors in the Baton Rouge, LA metro on The Roofing Brief Contractor Score are One Roof LA Construction LLC (76.6), Roofing Solutions LLC (76.1), Parish Construction & Roofing, LLC (73.5), V&V Roofing & Sheetmetal LLC (71.6), Empire Roofing Services, LLC (71.4). Every one holds a manufacturer certification that can be verified independently, every rating below has been corroborated against at least one source outside the certification registry, and no company paid to appear here.

The Roofing Brief scored 8 certified roofing contractors serving the Baton Rouge metro on a published, reproducible formula, then researched each of the top five individually to confirm its record. Baton Rouge is the metro where our own scoring model deserves a caveat printed on the page. Its certified pool has one of the highest average ratings in the batch, 4.89, but several of the strongest contractors carry very few reviews, and the model’s review-depth component is only worth 15 of 100 points. The result is that a Master Elite contractor with eleven reviews outranks a certified contractor with 145. We have published the review counts in the table so you can weigh that yourself. Louisiana law also changed on 1 January 2026: under La. R.S. 37:2156.4, residential roofing at $7,500 or more now requires the Residential Roofing or Residential Construction classification specifically, and the contractor must have passed the residential roofing trade examination.

What a Baton Rouge roof is up against

Baton Rouge takes hail that surprises people who think of Louisiana as a wind-and-water market. NOAA holds 120 hail reports for the ten metro parishes over the decade, 114 of them an inch or larger and nine at two inches or more, with the largest, 3.75 inches, falling near the university on 20 June 2023. Add 302 severe wind reports, 55 of them at severe thresholds, 52 tornadoes including EF3s in Assumption Parish in February 2016 and Livingston Parish in February 2017, and a peak season of April and May.

Straight-line wind does the widescale damage. On 12 May 2017 an 87-knot event near Walker uprooted or snapped more than 50 mature trees along a twelve-mile damage path, bringing down utility lines and leaving light to moderate roof damage across the area. Hurricanes add the tail risk that sets insurance terms, and 2024 was the busiest year in the decade’s record with 104 reports.

The permit rule changed recently and homeowners should know it. Under Louisiana Act 239, East Baton Rouge Parish has required a permit and a final inspection for roof installations, including re-roofs, since August 2025, for residential as well as commercial buildings. Livingston, Ascension and the other parishes run their own permit offices. A contractor unaware of the new requirement, or willing to skip it, is telling you how the rest of the job will go.

Two credentials decide the value of the work. Since 1 January 2026, residential roofing of $7,500 or more requires a Louisiana licence carrying the Residential Roofing or Residential Construction classification, and under R.S. 37:2163 contracting without an active licence is a misdemeanour. Separately, the state’s Fortify Homes Program awards grants of up to $10,000 by lottery toward an IBHS FORTIFIED roof, paid directly to the contractor, and a FORTIFIED roof earns an insurance discount in Louisiana. If either matters to you, confirm the contractor is licensed for the value of your job and has completed FORTIFIED roofs that passed evaluation.

1. One Roof LA Construction LLC — TRB Score 76.6

One Roof LA Construction LLC is based in Baton Rouge, LA, Not BBB accredited, and holds Master Elite standing on the GAF certification registry.

Adjusted rating 36.3 40

Independently corroborated:

  • State Contractors Licensing Board licences 73781, expiring 23 September 2026, and 888882, expiring 13 October 2027. Louisiana LSLBC
  • BBB profile on record; assists clients with insurance claim management. BBB

What they actually do. Residential and commercial roofing with insurance claim management.

Why it ranks here. Two current Louisiana licence numbers verifiable on the state board record, which under the new 2026 classification rules is the check that matters most in this state. A clean 5.0 registry rating.

Best fit for: Homeowners who want the state licence number confirmed before signing, and insurance claims.

What we would want clarified. Eleven registry reviews. This ranks first on certification tier and a perfect but very small rating sample, not on evidence depth, and it is not BBB accredited. If review volume matters more to you than certification tier, look at Parish Construction below. We publish this because a ranking that only prints the flattering findings is an advertisement, not an assessment.

Verify the certification yourself on the GAF registry listing. The number carried on that listing is (225) 747-0647, which is the registry’s contact line and is often a directory tracking number rather than the contractor’s own: take the number from the company’s own website and compare the two.

2. Roofing Solutions LLC — TRB Score 76.1

Roofing Solutions LLC is based in Baton Rouge, LA, Not BBB accredited, and holds Master Elite standing on the GAF certification registry.

Independently corroborated:

  • State Contractors Licensing Board licence 44196. Louisiana LSLBC
  • BBB profile on record with an East Baton Rouge Parish tax registration 00887314. BBB

What they actually do. Residential and commercial roofing across the Baton Rouge parishes.

Why it ranks here. Master Elite certification with a parish tax registration as well as a state licence, so the business is traceable at both levels.

Best fit for: Homeowners wanting the enhanced GAF warranty options that only higher-tier contractors can offer.

What we would want clarified. Nine registry reviews, the thinnest base in this top five, and not BBB accredited. The licence record shows an October 2025 expiry against one number, so confirm the current licence and the new Residential Roofing classification directly with the state board before signing. We publish this because a ranking that only prints the flattering findings is an advertisement, not an assessment.

Verify the certification yourself on the GAF registry listing. The number carried on that listing is (225) 744-3912, which is the registry’s contact line and is often a directory tracking number rather than the contractor’s own: take the number from the company’s own website and compare the two.

3. Parish Construction & Roofing, LLC — TRB Score 73.5

Parish Construction & Roofing, LLC is based in Baton Rouge, LA, BBB profile on record, and holds Certified standing on the GAF certification registry.

Score component Points Max
Certification tier 12 35
Adjusted rating 38.8 40
Review corpus depth 12.7 15
Metro proximity 10.0 10
Total 73.5 100

Independently corroborated:

What they actually do. Residential and commercial roofing and construction across the greater Baton Rouge parishes.

Why it ranks here. A clean 5.0 across 145 registry reviews. On evidence depth this is the strongest record in the metro by a wide margin: it carries more than ten times the review volume of either contractor ranked above it, and matches their perfect rating. It ranks third only because it holds base GAF certification rather than Master Elite.

Best fit for: Homeowners who weight verified customer volume above certification tier. On that basis this is the top of the Baton Rouge list.

What we would want clarified. No BBB rating or accreditation date was locatable. We publish this because a ranking that only prints the flattering findings is an advertisement, not an assessment.

Verify the certification yourself on the GAF registry listing. The number carried on that listing is (225) 364-1007, which is the registry’s contact line and is often a directory tracking number rather than the contractor’s own: take the number from the company’s own website and compare the two.

4. V&V Roofing & Sheetmetal LLC — TRB Score 71.6

V&V Roofing & Sheetmetal LLC is based in Baton Rouge, LA, BBB accredited since 15 October 2012, and holds Certified standing on the GAF certification registry.

Score component Points Max
Certification tier 12 35
Adjusted rating 38.3 40
Review corpus depth 11.3 15
Metro proximity 10.0 10
Total 71.6 100

Independently corroborated:

  • BBB accredited since 15 October 2012, a 14-year record. BBB
  • Listed with Smart Home America, which promotes the FORTIFIED resilient-construction standard on the Gulf Coast. Smart Home America
  • Listed on the Procore construction network, a commercial-trade listing rather than a consumer directory. Procore

What they actually do. Residential and commercial roofing with in-house sheet metal fabrication.

Why it ranks here. A clean 5.0 across 82 registry reviews with fourteen years of unbroken accreditation. In-house sheet metal matters on Baton Rouge’s older stock where stock flashing profiles rarely fit, and the Smart Home America listing ties it to the FORTIFIED resilience standard that Louisiana insurers discount for.

Best fit for: Custom flashing and metal detailing, and homeowners pursuing an insurance premium reduction.

What we would want clarified. Base GAF certification rather than a higher tier. Confirm the new Louisiana Residential Roofing classification before signing at $7,500 or above. We publish this because a ranking that only prints the flattering findings is an advertisement, not an assessment.

Verify the certification yourself on the GAF registry listing. The number carried on that listing is (225) 753-6736, which is the registry’s contact line and is often a directory tracking number rather than the contractor’s own: take the number from the company’s own website and compare the two.

5. Empire Roofing Services, LLC — TRB Score 71.4

Empire Roofing Services, LLC is based in Baton Rouge, LA, in business since 2021, led by Jacob T. May, Owner, Not accredited, A+ rating, and holds Certified standing on the GAF certification registry.

Score component Points Max
Certification tier 12 35
Adjusted rating 35.9 40
Review corpus depth 13.5 15
Metro proximity 10.0 10
Total 71.4 100

Independently corroborated:

  • A+ rated though not accredited, business started 22 February 2021, with Jacob T. May listed as owner. BBB
  • 4.9 across 197 registry reviews, with BBB feedback citing gutter and roofing craftsmanship. Reviews

What they actually do. Residential roofing, exteriors and gutters.

Why it ranks here. An A+ BBB rating on a five-year-old business with 197 reviews at 4.9, and a named owner on the public record. The rating-to-volume combination here is stronger than anything above it except Parish.

Best fit for: Homeowners wanting roof and gutters handled together.

What we would want clarified. Five years trading, base GAF certification, and not BBB accredited despite the A+ rating. Confirm the new Louisiana Residential Roofing classification before signing at $7,500 or above. We publish this because a ranking that only prints the flattering findings is an advertisement, not an assessment.

Verify the certification yourself on the GAF registry listing. The number carried on that listing is (225) 347-8877, which is the registry’s contact line and is often a directory tracking number rather than the contractor’s own: take the number from the company’s own website and compare the two.

The 114 hail reports behind a Baton Rouge roof

Aggregate hail counts tell you very little about a specific roof. These are the individual events: every severe-weather report logged by the National Weather Service across the 10 counties of the Baton Rouge, LA statistical area over ten years, with the dates, the stone sizes and the towns they landed on. Over that decade the metro logged 120 hail reports, 302 severe thunderstorm and high wind reports and 52 tornadoes. Reported property damage from hail, severe wind and tornado over that decade totalled $2.4 million; flood and winter-storm losses are counted separately and are not included.

The biggest hail to fall on Baton Rouge in a decade

Date Stone size Reported near County
20 June 2023 3.75 in University East Baton Rouge
20 June 2023 3.25 in University East Baton Rouge
20 June 2023 3.0 in University East Baton Rouge
20 June 2023 2.5 in University East Baton Rouge
20 June 2023 2.25 in Addis West Baton Rouge
12 February 2024 2.0 in Hobart Ascension

The largest stone on record for this metro fell on 20 June 2023 near University, measured at 3.75 inches. That is baseball sized, comfortably past the point where a roof is written off rather than repaired.

Wind. The strongest thunderstorm gust logged in the metro was 87 knots, about 100 mph, near Livingston on 12 May 2017. Asphalt shingles begin lifting at roughly 67 mph when they are correctly nailed, and considerably below that when they are not.

Tornadoes. 52 tornadoes touched down in these counties over the decade, the strongest rated EF3 near Westfield on 23 February 2016.

What the National Weather Service wrote about it

The NWS logs a written account of each severe-weather episode. This is its description of the 12 May 2017 event near Livingston, reproduced verbatim:

A large area of powerful straight line winds was reported near Walker. More than 50 large hard and soft wood trees were uprooted or snapped. Utility lines were blown down and there was light to moderate roof damage. Trees were blown down onto cars and parts of houses. There was about a 12 mile damage swath, bounded north/south by US Highway 190 and Louisiana Highway 1024. and bounded east west by Louisiana Highways 16 and 63. Damage in the vicinity of Courtney and Varnado Roads was indicative of winds up to 100 mph.

A roof in this metro is built against events like that one, as recorded by the agency that recorded it rather than by a contractor selling the repair.

When it happens. Severe weather reports cluster in April (97), May (95), June (95). The worst years on record were 2024 (104), 2023 (71), 2025 (71). If you are scheduling non-urgent work in Baton Rouge, the months outside that window are when crews are least stretched and least likely to be triaging emergency callouts ahead of your job.

Source: NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information, Storm Events Database, county-level detail files 2016 to 2025, filtered to the counties of this statistical area by The Roofing Brief. Damage figures are as reported to the NWS and undercount insured losses.

What to do with this. Baton Rouge sees enough damaging hail that a Class 4 impact-rated shingle is worth pricing, though not automatically worth buying. Get both quotes and weigh the premium against any insurance discount.

The checks worth making in Baton Rouge

Licensing is required in LA. Louisiana requires a roofing-specific licence classification. Under La. R.S. 37:2156.4(A), on and after 1 January 2026 any person who advertises, solicits, undertakes, offers or submits a price, bid, quote or estimate to construct, modify, repair or maintain any portion of a roofing system on a residential structure worth $7,500 or more must hold the classification of Residential Roofing or Residential Construction. Unusually for this trade, subsection B requires a residential roofing contractor to pass the residential roofing trade examination, so unlike Alabama or New Jersey this is a competency licence and not merely a registration.

Residential roofing is a subclassification of residential construction, and Act 757 of 2026, effective 1 August 2026, added subsection D extending the rule to any residential structure containing no more than four dwelling units. The penalties are real. Under R.S. 37:2163 it is unlawful to act as a contractor without an active licence, and a violation is a misdemeanour carrying a fine of up to $500 per day of violation, or three months in prison, or both. Where an unlicensed person causes harm or damage exceeding $300, the penalty rises to a fine of between $500 and $5,000, or imprisonment with or without hard labour for between six months and five years, or both. R.S. 37:2163(A)(2) separately makes it unlawful for any contractor, licensed or unlicensed, to publish or circulate a misleading or false claim about a person’s licence or classification in any medium, including digital platforms.

Check here: Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors. Check the classification itself on the board’s lookup, not just that a licence exists, because the statute names two classifications specifically. It is worth knowing that misrepresenting a licence or classification in advertising is itself unlawful in Louisiana under R.S. 37:2163(A)(2), so what a contractor claims about its credentials on its own website is a statement the state can act on.

Four checks to run before you sign anything, in any state.

  1. Verify certification at the source. Use the GAF verification tool rather than trusting a badge image on a company website.
  2. Get the certificate of insurance from the insurer, not the contractor, and confirm general liability and workers compensation are both active on the day work starts.
  3. Confirm who pulls the permit. If a contractor asks you to pull it as the homeowner, that moves liability onto you. Decline.
  4. Get warranty terms in writing before any deposit, and check the manufacturer warranty being promised actually requires the certification tier the contractor holds.

How deep the Baton Rouge certified market really is

8 certified roofing contractors serve the principal cities of the Baton Rouge, LA statistical area, of which 0 hold the top President’s Club tier. The pool carries 877 customer reviews between them at a mean rating of 4.888. The statistical area had a 2024 population of 882,652, a change of 1.39% against the 2020 census base, per the U.S. Census Bureau Vintage 2024 estimates.

How these Baton Rouge rankings were produced

Every contractor in the Baton Rouge, LA pool was scored out of 100 on four published components: certification tier, a Bayesian adjusted rating, review depth and distance from the metro centre. In this metro that meant scoring 8 certified contractors, of whom 0 hold President’s Club standing and 3 Master Elite, against a metro mean rating of 4.888. The top five were then researched individually against Better Business Bureau records, state licence registers and manufacturer directories. Where that research turned up something awkward it is on the page, and no placement was paid for.

The full method, the weightings, what the GAF certification tiers actually mean, who is eligible to be ranked and what we do not claim are all set out on our roofer ranking methodology page. What should I check before hiring a roofer in Baton Rouge?

Check the classification itself on the board’s lookup, not just that a licence exists, because the statute names two classifications specifically. It is worth knowing that misrepresenting a licence or classification in advertising is itself unlawful in Louisiana under R.S. 37:2163(A)(2), so what a contractor claims about its credentials on its own website is a statement the state can act on.

Is Baton Rouge a hard market to find a good roofer in?

Baton Rouge is the metro where our own scoring model deserves a caveat printed on the page. Its certified pool has one of the highest average ratings in the batch, 4.89, but several of the strongest contractors carry very few reviews, and the model’s review-depth component is only worth 15 of 100 points. Is wind or hail the bigger risk to a roof in Baton Rouge?

Wind, by a wide margin. The Baton Rouge, LA statistical area logged 302 severe thunderstorm and high wind reports against 114 hail reports of an inch or more between 2016 and 2025. Wind damage shows up at the rake, ridge and edge rather than across the field of the roof, so the fastening schedule and edge detail matter more here than the impact rating of the shingle.
