Shingle supply house pricing in 2026 starts from a late-2025 base of $27 to $85 per bundle for asphalt shingles, or $80 to $250 per square, per HomeGuide’s November 2025 shingle price guide, and then stacks two rounds of manufacturer increases on top. GAF and IKO each announced 5 to 8 percent for mid-April and another 6 to 9 percent effective June 1, 2026, and Owens Corning’s June 1 letter added $8.01 per square to most of its Duration lines. Architectural shingles sell at 3 bundles per square, so a square of architectural costs $100 to $250 in HomeGuide’s table before those increases. The three national distributors are ABC Supply (privately held, more than 1,000 locations), QXO (which bought Beacon on April 29, 2025) and SRS Distribution (owned by Home Depot since June 18, 2024).
The short version
- Architectural asphalt bundle: $33 to $85 (HomeGuide, Nov 2025). 3 bundles per square = $100 to $250 per square in shingles alone.
- Luxury or premium asphalt: $50 to $95 per bundle, $150 to $280 per square. Designer lines such as GAF Grand Sequoia pack 5 bundles per square, so multiply the bundle price by 5, not 3.
- 3-tab: $27 to $45 per bundle, $80 to $130 per square (HomeGuide). Owens Corning still listed its Supreme 3-tab in its June 2026 price letter.
- Big three distributors: ABC Supply (private, 1,000-plus US locations), QXO (formerly Beacon), SRS Distribution (Home Depot, more than 760 locations in 47 states at closing).
- 2026 increases: TAMKO 4 to 5 percent March 23; GAF 5 to 8 percent and CertainTeed 8 percent April 15; IKO 5 to 8 percent April 15; Malarkey up to 8 percent April 1; Atlas 5 to 7 percent May 1; GAF and IKO 6 to 9 percent June 1; Owens Corning $8.01 per square on Duration June 1.
- The BLS producer price index for asphalt shingle manufacturing rose 8.2 percent from January to August 2026.
- Labor adds $200 to $300 per square (HomeGuide), so installed architectural runs $400 to $600 per square.
The short answer: who sells shingles in 2026 and what they cost
Shingle supply house pricing in 2026 is set by three layers: the manufacturer’s list price and increase calendar, the distributor’s account pricing, and freight to your region. HomeGuide’s brand table (November 2025, materials only) puts GAF at $30 to $54 per bundle, CertainTeed at $30 to $57, Owens Corning at $27 to $50, TAMKO and IKO at $27 to $33, and Malarkey at $27 to $65. A bundle of GAF Timberline HDZ bought after June 1, 2026 carries both of GAF’s 2026 rounds, which compound to 11.3 to 17.7 percent if a distributor passes the full list increase through. On the homeowner’s quote, HomeGuide’s $200 to $300 per square labor charge is layered on top of the material.
The big three: ABC Supply, Beacon, SRS Distribution
ABC Supply
ABC Supply is privately held and was founded by Ken and Diane Hendricks in Beloit, Wisconsin, in 1982. Its 1,000-plus US locations were reorganized into six regions (Midwest, Northeast, Southwest, Southeast, West and the new Mid-South) effective January 1, 2026, per Roofing Contractor’s October 14, 2025 report. ABC posts manufacturers’ price-increase letters for its customers, including the GAF, IKO and Owens Corning 2026 letters cited on this page.
Beacon (a QXO company)
QXO completed its acquisition of Beacon Roofing Supply on April 29, 2025, at $124.35 per share, valuing the deal at about $11 billion, per QXO’s closing announcement. QXO says the deal made it the largest publicly traded distributor of roofing, waterproofing and complementary building products in the US. Beacon shares no longer trade on Nasdaq.
SRS Distribution (Home Depot subsidiary)
Home Depot completed its acquisition of SRS Distribution on June 18, 2024, for a total enterprise value of about $18.25 billion, per Home Depot’s closing release filed with the SEC. At closing, SRS operated more than 760 locations across 47 states under a family of local brands, serving roofers, landscapers and pool contractors. SRS posts manufacturer letters too: a contractor summary by RoofSmart cites SRS’s own notice of a 6 to 10 percent increase on residential products starting June 1, 2026.
Beyond the big three, regional and independent distributors stock the same national brands. Which distributor is cheapest is account-specific, so the reliable comparison is a written quote for the same SKU, quantity and delivery date from two or three of them.

HomeGuide’s prices are materials only, before tax and delivery. Bundle counts set the per-square math: standard architectural shingles cover about 33 square feet per bundle, or 3 bundles per square (HomeGuide), but GAF’s Grand Sequoia data sheet lists 5 bundles, 72 pieces and 360 nails per square at a 5 in exposure. CertainTeed’s Presidential Shake runs 90 shingles and about 350 lb per square per its data sheet; see Presidential Shake bundles per square in our review of that line. Our shingle bundle prices 2026 guide covers the per-bundle pricing breakdown, and 2026 shingle brand comparison report goes brand-by-brand on the warranty and performance side.
| 25-square architectural reroof (worked example) | Low | High |
|---|---|---|
| Shingles at HomeGuide’s $100 to $250 per square (Nov 2025) | $2,500 | $6,250 |
| After a 5% and a 6% round (low end of GAF’s and IKO’s 2026 letters) | $2,783 | |
| After an 8% and a 9% round (high end) | $7,358 | |
| Owens Corning Duration only: June 1 adder of $8.01 x 25 squares | $200 | $200 |
| Labor at HomeGuide’s $200 to $300 per square | $5,000 | $7,500 |
The 2026 price-increase calendar
2026 brought two rounds of asphalt shingle increases. Letters distributed in February took effect between late March and mid-April, and a second round followed for June 1. Mead Lumber’s May 2026 market update summarized it: “most have already announced price increases for around June 1, 2026, in the 6-9% range,” with lead times stretching to 3 to 4 weeks after storms in the South. The dated increases we could confirm:
- GAF: 5 to 8 percent April 15, 2026, per Mead Lumber’s April update, then 6 to 9 percent on all shingles and roofing accessories, including Timbersteel, MasterFlow and FT Synthetic, effective June 1, 2026, per GAF’s April 23 letter (PCD2226).
- Owens Corning: 5 to 8 percent on shingles and accessories in the first round, per RoofSmart, then June 1 dollar adders: $8.01 per square on Oakridge, TruDefinition Duration, Duration STORM and Duration FLEX; $8.04 on Duration Premium, Duration MAX and Woodcrest; $6.00 on Supreme 3-tab.
- CertainTeed: 8 percent April 15, 2026, per Mead Lumber, and up to 8 percent on roofing per RoofSmart.
- IKO: 5 to 8 percent April 15 (letter dated March 16) and 6 to 9 percent June 1 (letter dated April 27). Both letters say orders are not price protected and are priced at time of shipment.
- TAMKO: 4 to 5 percent March 23, 2026, per Mead Lumber and RoofSmart.
- Atlas: 5 to 8 percent on shingles, underlayment and ventilation per RoofSmart’s summary of distributor-posted letters; Mead Lumber lists 5 to 7 percent effective May 1.
- Malarkey: up to 8 percent April 1, 2026, per Mead Lumber’s April 2026 update.
Announced list increases are a ceiling, not a measured price change. The BLS producer price index for asphalt shingle and coating materials manufacturing, published on FRED as PCU324122324122, moved from 348.649 in January 2026 to 377.255 in August 2026, up 8.2 percent, and stood at 370.379 in September 2026, 5.7 percent above September 2024 (350.540). On the worked example above, the two rounds add $283 to $1,108 to a 25-square shingle order if passed through in full.
How much of an increase reaches the homeowner depends on the contract. IKO’s letters say pricing is set at time of shipment, so a quote signed in March for a July install can carry both rounds unless it includes a price lock. Our 2026 Roofing Cost Report covers the price-pass-through math in detail.
| If your quote | Expect | What to ask for |
|---|---|---|
| Was signed before April 15, 2026 for delivery after June 1 | Up to two rounds: 5 to 8% plus 6 to 9% on GAF and IKO | A written price lock through the install date |
| Was signed between April 15 and June 1, 2026 | The June round: 6 to 9% (GAF, IKO) or $8.01 per square (OC Duration) | Confirmation that material was bought or allocated before June 1 |
| Prices a designer line by the bundle | 5 bundles per square on Grand Sequoia, not 3 | The per-square price and the maker’s bundle count |
| Includes an “escalation” or material adjustment clause | Pass-through of any increase at shipment, as IKO’s letters allow | A cap in dollars per square, or a fixed price |
| Lists a Class 4 shingle for an insurance credit | A premium over standard architectural | The insurer’s credit in writing before you choose the upgrade |
3-tab vs architectural vs premium designer: what supply houses sell in 2026
The 3-tab strip shingle (a flat, single-layer asphalt shingle) is still on the 2026 price lists: Owens Corning’s June 1, 2026 letter prices its Supreme 3-tab at a $6.00 per square increase. HomeGuide puts 3-tab at $27 to $45 per bundle, or $80 to $130 per square, and says architectural shingles cost about 20 percent more than 3-tab but are about 50 percent thicker, with more wind and impact resistance.
Architectural shingles (laminated, dimensional) cost $33 to $85 per bundle and $100 to $250 per square in HomeGuide’s table, or $400 to $600 per square installed. The category includes GAF Timberline HDZ, Owens Corning Duration, CertainTeed Landmark, IKO Cambridge, TAMKO Heritage and Atlas Pinnacle. Contractor selection often follows certification, because the enhanced warranties require a certified installer: GAF Master Elite, Owens Corning Platinum Preferred, CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster.
Luxury and premium asphalt runs $50 to $95 per bundle and $150 to $280 per square in HomeGuide’s table. Designer lines change the bundle math: GAF Grand Sequoia packs 5 bundles per square, so a $60 bundle is a $300 square, against $180 for an architectural square at the same bundle price. GAF’s data sheet lists 360 nails per square on Grand Sequoia (432 where 6 nails per shingle are required), and CertainTeed lists Presidential Shake at about 350 lb per square. Where HOA covenants require a shake or slate look, confirm the approved product list before ordering.
Impact-rated Class 4 shingles and insurance discounts
Class 4 impact-rated shingles pass UL 2218 testing with a 2-inch steel ball, the top of its four classes, and can earn a wind or hail premium credit in some storm-prone states. The size of the credit depends on the carrier and the state filing, so whether it pays back the upfront premium depends on the credit your insurer confirms in writing.
Class 4 lines named in 2026 manufacturer and dealer documents include:
- Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration FLEX and Duration STORM: both carry the $8.01 per square June 1, 2026 increase in OC’s letter.
- Malarkey Vista and Legacy: Class 4 impact rating, per Mead Lumber’s April 2026 product sheet, which lists Malarkey Highlander as Class 3.
- GAF Timberline AS II and Grand Sequoia AS: GAF’s impact-resistant versions of those lines.
- CertainTeed NorthGate and Presidential Shake IR, Atlas StormMaster Shake, and TAMKO StormFighter IR.
Carriers that give the discount usually want proof of the installed product. Photograph the bundle wrappers before disposal and ask the contractor for a certificate of installation naming the product line. Our 2026 Roofing Material Lifespan Report covers impact-rated lifespan data, and the 2026 Roofing Cost Report covers the discount math.
Accessories: underlayment, ice and water, ridge cap, drip edge
Accessories rose with shingles in 2026. Owens Corning’s June 1 letter lists the exact adders, and GAF’s 6 to 9 percent round covers “all Shingles and Roofing Accessories.” The accessory lines on a reroof:
- Synthetic underlayment (Owens Corning ProArmor, GAF Deck-Armor, CertainTeed Diamond Deck): GAF’s June 1 increase names its FT Synthetic line. HomeGuide prices roof underlayment at $0.75 to $4.00 per square foot installed.
- Ice and water shield (GAF StormGuard, Grace Ice & Water, OC WeatherLock): OC added $4.00 per roll on WeatherLock Flex and $2.50 per roll on WeatherLock Granulated and Mat. IRC R905.1.2 requires an ice barrier from the eave to at least 24 in inside the exterior wall line where the local jurisdiction has a history of ice forming at the eaves.
- Drip edge (10 ft sections, aluminum or steel): Gibraltar announced 10 to 13 percent on aluminum trim and flashing and about 5 percent on galvanized steel, per RoofSmart.
- Hip and ridge shingles (matched to field shingle): OC added $2.50 per bundle on all hip and ridge.
- Starter strip shingle: OC added $2.25 per bundle on starter strip and $1.50 per roll on starter roll.
- Ridge vent: OC added $1.00 per roll on VentSure rigid roll ridge vent and $1.00 per box on its 4 ft strip vent.
To build a 25-square takeoff yourself: 75 bundles of 3-bundle architectural shingles (125 bundles for a 5-bundle designer line such as Grand Sequoia), starter for every eave and rake foot, hip and ridge for every ridge and hip foot, ice barrier at eaves where R905.1.2 applies, and drip edge in 10 ft sections around the perimeter. Price each line by SKU, then compare it with the material total on the contractor’s quote. To shop that list yourself, start with where to buy shingles for less.
How contractor pricing translates to homeowner pricing
The contractor at the supply house pays account pricing on the materials above. By the time the same material reaches the homeowner’s quote, it sits inside an installed price that also covers labor, tear-off, overhead, profit and warranty. HomeGuide’s November 2025 figures show the split: architectural material at $100 to $250 per square, labor at $200 to $300 per square, and $400 to $600 per square installed, with tear-off at $1 to $3 per square foot on top.
This is why a homeowner cannot compare a contractor quote line for line with a big-box shelf price. A retail bundle price covers only the material, with no labor, workmanship warranty, insurance, tear-off or disposal, and HomeGuide notes that these brands sell through home improvement, hardware and building supply stores. Ask the contractor to separate material from labor instead. Our roof cost per square foot guide walks through the per-square math on a finished installed job, and reshingle roof cost covers the labor-vs-material split.
Regional pricing: where 2026 supply-house pricing deviates
Supply-house pricing deviates by region in three predictable ways. Freight adds more in markets far from shingle plants, and Mead Lumber’s April 2026 update notes that many manufacturers and wholesalers were adding fuel surcharges. Storm demand stretches lead times: Mead reported 3 to 4 week lead times in May 2026 after storms in the South. And code shifts the product mix: California’s Title 24 cool-roof rules and wildfire-zone requirements, and Florida’s high-wind requirements, narrow which SKUs a local supply house stocks.
After a major hail event, demand for architectural and impact-rated bundles spikes for months as contractors work insurance claims, and distributors may limit how many squares an account can pull. Homeowners with non-storm cash projects in those markets get the best pricing by asking for a quote valid through the install date and by scheduling outside the claim surge.
How to ask a contractor what they pay at the supply house
A homeowner cannot directly access supply-house pricing without a contractor account, but a fair contractor will share the material cost of the actual product on the quote. The question to ask: “What is the per-bundle cost of the exact shingle line on this quote, how many bundles per square does it take, and is the price locked through installation?” A contractor who names the line, the bundle count (3 for most architectural, 5 for GAF Grand Sequoia) and the lock date is giving you what you need to compare bids. Our how to choose a roofing contractor guide covers the broader vetting questions.
FAQ: shingle supply house pricing in 2026
Why did shingle prices increase so much in 2026?
Manufacturers raised prices in two rounds. GAF cited “the sustained surge in key raw material costs and continued pressure on transportation” in its April 23, 2026 letter for 6 to 9 percent on June 1, and IKO cited raw material and transportation costs for its 6 to 9 percent June round. The BLS producer price index for asphalt shingle manufacturing rose 8.2 percent from January to August 2026.
Can homeowners buy shingles directly at a supply house in 2026?
Often yes, but at counter pricing rather than a contractor’s account tier. HomeGuide’s November 2025 guide prices CertainTeed, GAF and Owens Corning at $27 to $57 per bundle and notes they sell through home improvement, hardware and building supply stores. Call the branch first, because some supply houses deliver only to account holders.
What is the cheapest shingle at supply house in 2026?
3-tab asphalt is the cheapest shingle, at $27 to $45 per bundle or $80 to $130 per square in HomeGuide’s November 2025 table, and Owens Corning still prices its Supreme 3-tab in 2026. Among brands, HomeGuide lists TAMKO and IKO lowest at $27 to $33 per bundle.
How much does GAF Grand Sequoia cost per square?
Multiply the bundle price by 5: GAF’s data sheet lists Grand Sequoia at 5 bundles, 72 pieces and 360 nails per square. At HomeGuide’s $50 to $95 range for luxury and premium asphalt bundles, that is $250 to $475 per square in material, before GAF’s 2026 increases of 5 to 8 percent in April and 6 to 9 percent on June 1.
Are 2026 price increases coming back down?
Not so far. The asphalt shingle producer price index stood at 370.379 in September 2026, below its August peak of 377.255 but 5.7 percent above September 2024, according to FRED series PCU324122324122. None of the 2026 manufacturer letters cited here announces a price cut.
How do contractors lock in 2026 pricing before increases?
Manufacturer letters set the rules: IKO’s 2026 letters say orders are not price protected and are priced at time of shipment, and GAF’s June letter invoices all orders shipped on or after June 1 at the new level regardless of order date. Homeowners should ask whether the quote is locked through installation or subject to a material adjustment, and get any lock in writing.
